Introducing the Walters State baseball Roster for 2019
The Walters State Baseball Team is excited to announce its roster for the 2019 season. The team is made up of talented student-athletes from all over the country, and we can’t wait to see what they can do on the field this year.
meet the 2019 squad, we’ll be highlighting a few players to watch out for. First up is pitcher Dylan Haught, who comes to us from Knoxville, Tennessee. Dylan is a hard-throwing lefty who has already impressed our Coaching Staff with his work ethic and dedication to the game. We’re excited to see what he can do on the mound this year.
Our next player is infielder/outfielder Hunter Gilliland, a versatile player from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Hunter is a great hitter with a keen eye for the strike zone and he’s also a gifted fielder with a strong arm. He’ll be an important piece of our lineup this year.
Finally, we have catcher/infielder Ethan Hembree, a talented player from Morristown, Tennessee. Ethan is a great hitter with power to all fields, and he’s also an excellent defensive catcher with a strong arm. He’s going to be a key player for us this season.
We’re thrilled to have these three players on our team and we can’t wait to see what they can do on the field this year. Go Walters State!
2019 Roster: Outfielders
The Walters State baseball team will have a new look in the outfield this upcoming season as all three starters from last year have moved on, leaving plenty of opportunities for a host of young talents to make an impact.
Gone are Christian Bailey, who was named an NJCAA All-American after leading the team with a .413 batting average 17 home runs and 57 RBIs; Anthony Amicangelo, who hit .311 with three homers and 31 RBIs; and Jordan Bowman, who batted .270 with 12 RBIs.
In their place will be a host of talented players looking to make their mark on the program.

Head Coach Dave Shelton enters his 18th season as Head Coach of the Senators. He has amassed an overall record of 773-447-1 (.633) during his time at Walters State, leading the Senators to the NJCAA World Series five times. Shelton was named Coach of the Year in both the conference (2003) and region (2001, 2003, 2007, 2009) seven times each during his career.
2019 Season Outlook
The 2019 Walters State baseball team is looking to make a run at the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII tournament after falling just short of qualifying last year. The team is made up of experienced sophomores and talented freshmen who are looking to make an impact. head coach Matt Holly is entering his fourth season at the helm and has brought in some key recruits who should help the team contend for a spot in the postseason.
The pitching staff will be anchored by sophomore right-hander Brandon Stenkamp, who was named second team all-conference last season after posting a 5-1 record with a 3.38 ERA. He will be joined by freshman left-hander Luke Phillips, who was ranked as the #1 High School prospect in Tennessee by perfect game USA. The rotation will also include sophomores Jacob Meers and Dylan Earhart, who both saw significant time on the mound last season.
The offense will be led by sophomore first baseman Zachary Goodson, who hit .333 with four home runs and 27 RBIs last year. He will be joined in the infield by fellow sophomores Hunter Wheeler (second base) and Austin Bohrer (third base), who both bring a solid bat to the lineup. The outfield will feature a mix of experience and youth, with sophomores Christian Poulin and Tyler Owens manning the corners and freshman Cameron Dunkerley patrolling center field.
The team will open up the 2019 season on February 1st with a three-game series against Motlow State Community College
2018 Season Recap
The Walters State baseball team is excited to announce its roster for the 2019 season. The team finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 33-22 and made it to the NJCAA World Series for the first time in program history. This year’s team will be looking to build on that success and make a run at the title.
The team is made up of 20 returning players and 10 new recruits. The 20 returners include 5 pitchers, 3 catchers, 6 infielders, and 6 outfielders. The 10 new recruits include 5 pitchers, 2 catchers, 2 infielders, and 1 outfielder.
We are looking forward to another great season of baseball and can’t wait to see what this team can do.
Walters State in the News
The Walters State baseball team was in the news recently for their 2019 roster. The team has 14 new players, all of whom are from Tennessee. This is the first time in school history that the team has had an all-Tennessee roster.
The team’s Head Coach Matt Hennessee, said that he is excited about the new players and that they will bring a lot of energy to the team. He also said that he believes the team has a lot of potential and that he is looking forward to seeing how they do this season.
