The team is led by seniors Hunter Myatt (catcher), Garrett Usry (pitcher/outfielder), and Austin Bowen (infielder/pitcher). They are joined by juniors Mason Edwards (infielder), Jake Swanson (outfielder), and Brayden Houchins (outfielder). The team’s two pitchers, Garrett Usry and Austin Bowen, are both left-handed.

In 2014, West Stokes Baseball had a record of 6-12. The program ranked last in the county in wins and losses. One might think that the coaching staff would be replaced with a new group of coaches that could bring fresh ideas and create a winning culture. However, Head Coach Marcus Hill and assistant coaches Jacob Edwards and Jon Rakes chose to stick it out.
“We knew we had some talented players coming up through the ranks,” Coach Hill said. “We just needed some time to develop them.”
The coaches’ patience paid off. In 2015, the team went 14-6, won their conference tournament and made it to the second round of the state playoffs. They accomplished all of this with only two seniors on the team.
