Who Has No Trade Clause in the NBA?

With the NBA trade deadline looming, we take a look at which players around the league have no trade clauses in their contracts.

Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving is one of the most popular players in the NBA today. He is a young player with a lot of potential. He is also one of the few players in the NBA who has a no trade clause in his contract. This means that he cannot be traded without his consent.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Kyrie Irving is a professional basketball player who most recently played for the Boston Celtics. He is a four-time All-Star and was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2012. He has also won an Olympic gold medal as part of Team USA in 2016.

Prior to his trade to the Celtics, Irving played six seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he won an NBA Championship in 2016. He was also named the NBA Finals MVP that year.

Irving is one of a handful of players in the NBA who have a no-trade clause in their contract. This means that he has the ability to veto any trade that would send him to another team.

Boston Celtics

As of July 1st, 2019 the Boston Celtics have Kyrie Irving on their team. Kyrie Irving is a point guard in the NBA and has a no trade clause in his contract which means that he cannot be traded without his consent. The Celtics are currently in the process of trying to sign Kemba Walker to a contract and if they are successful, Irving will most likely be traded to another team.

Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler is one of the few players in the NBA with a no-trade clause in his contract. This means that he cannot be traded by his team without his consent. Butler has a no-trade clause in his contract because he is a very good player and the team wants to keep him.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Jimmy Butler is a professional basketball player who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born in Houston, Texas, and grew up in Tomball, a suburb northwest of Houston. After a successful high school career, he attended Marquette University where he played college basketball for two seasons. He was then drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft.

In his first season with the Bulls, Butler was named the NBA Rookie of the Year. He quickly emerged as one of the best players on the team, and by his third season, he had been named an NBA All-Star. In 2015–16, he was named to the All-NBA Third Team and became just the fourth player in Bulls history to average at least 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game in a single season.

In June 2017, Butler was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He helped lead the Timberwolves to their first playoff appearance in 14 years. The following year, he was named an NBA All-Star for a second time.

Philadelphia 76ers

Jimmy Butler is a shooting guard/small forward for the Philadelphia 76ers who has a no trade clause in his contract. This means that he cannot be traded without his consent. His current contract runs through the 2019-20 season.

Butler was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. He spent his first six seasons with the Bulls, before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2017. He spent one season with the Timberwolves before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in 2018.

DeMarcus Cousins

As of July 1, 2018, DeMarcus Cousins is the only player in the NBA with a no-trade clause in his contract. A no-trade clause is an stipulation added to a player’s contract that prohibits that player from being traded without his consent. The clause gives the player a high degree of control over his destiny and where he plays.

New Orleans Pelicans

As of September 2017, the New Orleans Pelicans have the only player in the NBA with a trade clause in his contract. That player is center DeMarcus Cousins. The terms of Cousins’ contract state that he cannot be traded without his permission. This clause was put in place when Cousins signed a five-year, $200 million extension with the Pelicans in 2018.

The trade clause gives Cousins a lot of power over his own future. He can veto any trade the Pelicans try to make involving him. This means that if the Pelicans want to trade Cousins, they would need to find a team that he is willing to be traded to.

The trade clause is a rare thing in the NBA. Most players do not have this kind of power over their own destiny. It is usually only given to superstar players who are considered to be franchise cornerstones. Cousins is one of the best big men in the league, and he has been an All-Star four times. He is also one of the few players in the league who averaging more than 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Anthony Davis is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the only player in the NBA with a no-trade clause in his contract. The no-trade clause allows him to veto any trade that the Pelicans try to make involving him.

New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are an American professional basketball team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Pelicans compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. The team was established as the New Orleans Hornets in the 2002–03 season when then-owner George Shinn relocated the franchise from Charlotte, North Carolina. Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the franchise temporarily relocated to Oklahoma City, where they spent two seasons officially known as the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. The team returned to New Orleans full-time for the 2007–08 season. On January 24, 2013, the franchise announced it would rename itself the Pelicans, effective after the conclusion of the 2012–13 season. Their current head coach is Alvin Gentry.

The Pelicans play their home games at Smoothie King Center. The team is owned by Gayle Benson and managed by David Griffin.
