The 2018 Topps Baseball Opening Day checklist is loaded with veteran star power and young up-and-comers. The 205-card set features a mix of current MLB stars, retired legends, and promising rookies. All 205 cards are foil stamped “OPENING DAY” on the front. The popular Dogs of War insert returns, this time featuring MLB mascots on cards 81-85. Donruss The Mint returns as a mini parallel, and there are special Opening Day variations mixed in as well.
2018 Topps Baseball Opening Day Sets
The 2018 Topps baseball Opening Day set contains 220 cards and was released on February 15, 2018. The base set features a mix of veterans and rookies, with cards #1-110 being vets and cards #111-220 being rooks. Veteran stars in the set include Giancarlo Stanton Mike Trout Clayton Kershaw Justin Verlander, Manny Machado José Altuve, Kris Bryant Mookie Betts Bryce Harper Johnny Cueto Buster Posey and many more. Rookies include Ronald Acuña Jr., Gleyber Torres Shohei Ohtani (SP), Rhys Hoskins, Juan Soto (RC), Michael Kopech (RC), Walker Buehler (RC), Scott Kingery (RC), Ronald Guzmán (RC), Willy Adames (RC) and more. Cards #1-110 are printed on white stock while cards #111-220 are printed on blue stock. Each card has a team logo watermark in the background.

2018 Topps Baseball Opening Day Variations
2018 Topps Baseball Opening Day features a basic 200-card set. However, there are 50 short print cards (1:4 packs), which feature a player’s photo on the front along with the team’s mascot on the back. In addition, there are 50 variation cards (1:12 packs) which feature a player photo swap on the front. The inside borders of both the short prints and variations will be gold foil. 2018 Topps Baseball Opening Day Errors
It seems that every year, a few cards in the Topps baseball Opening Day set contain printing or production errors. Some of these errors are fairly minor, while others can be quite noticeable. Here is a checklist of the 2018 Topps baseball Opening Day Errors, so that you can keep an eye out for them:
Card #15 – Joc Pederson – The image on this card is backwards, with Pederson running towards first base instead of second base.
Card #28 – Felix Hernandez – The “King’s Court” graphic in the bottom left corner of this card is supposed to be orange and blue, but it is printed in black and white
Card #44 – Clayton Kershaw – The image on this card is supposed to show Kershaw pitching to Miguel Cabrera, but Cabrera’s head has been swapped with that of Jose Altuve
Card #54 – Rougned Odor – The position listed for Odor on this card is “2B/SS”, but Odor has only ever played second base in his career.
Card #79 – Scott Schebler – This card shows Schebler making a catch in left field but Schebler is a right fielder.
Card #86 – Yoenis Cespedes – The image on this card appears to be flipped horizontally, with Cespedes running towards first base instead of third base.

2018 Topps Baseball Opening Day Highlights
With the release of 2018 Topps Baseball Opening Day just around the corner, here are some of the key cards and highlights collectors can expect to find in packs.
For baseball card fans, Opening Day is always an exciting time as it marks the release of the season’s first new set. 2018 Topps baseball Opening Day will feature a 300-card base set highlighting the biggest stars and newcomers from all 30 MLB teams.
Each 24-pack box will deliver 24 base cards, two Chrome cards two relic cards, and one autograph or opening day ticket card. One in every four boxes on average will also include a special foil-stamped “The Chase is On!” card featuring USA Baseball stars like Kris Bryant, Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger
Among the autograph inserts that will be randomly inserted in packs are 2018 Topps Baseball Opening Day ChecklistAutographs, Team Checklists Autographs, Award Winners Autographs, Rookie Debut Autographs featuring players making their cardboard debuts, and Relics Autographs featuring game-worn memorabilia swatches.
Opening Day Ticket Cards will also be randomly inserted in packs and feature images of real tickets stubs from selected Major League ballparks on the front with an player autograph on the back. Relic cards will offer another chance to collect game-worn memorabilia with a variety of swatches including jersey pieces, batting gloves pants, caps, socks, and cleats.
2018 Topps Baseball Opening Day Wrap-Up
Topps Baseball released its Opening Day set on February 28th, 2018. The popular release features a number of MLB All-Stars on vibrant, action-packed cards. In addition to standard player cards, the set also includes team cards, league leaders cards, and a special 10th anniversary Opening Day commemorative coin card.
