Its been almost 50 years since an NBA player scored 70 or more points in a game. The most recent occurrence was on Nov. 27, 2014, when Kobe Bryant scored 71 points against the New York Knicks It was the fifth-highest scoring performance in NBA history

Bryants outburst was the first 70-point game in the NBA since Shaquille ONeal did it on March 6, 2000. ONeal scored 72 points against the Los Angeles Lakers, his former team.
