The Howard University Basketball team is led by a group of Key Players These student-athletes have demonstrated their ability to succeed on the court, and they are poised to continue their success in the upcoming season
Forwards:
Dwayne Bacon is a 6’7″ forward who hails from Charlotte, North Carolina He is a two-time All-American and was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2019. Bacon is a versatile player who can score inside and out, and he is a strong rebounder.
Rayshawn Neal is a 6’8″ forward from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is an experienced player who has started every game over the past two seasons. Neal is a good shooter and an excellent defender.
Centers:
N Akeem Richmond is a 7’0″ center from Jamaica, New York. He is a big body in the middle who can score and rebound at a high level. Richmond has been named to the All-MEAC Defensive Team in each of the past two seasons.
Mario Haskett is a 6’10” center from Queens, New York. Haskett is a strong player who can provide valuable minutes off the bench. He has Good footwork and rebound well for his size
Team Captains
The Howard University men’s basketball team has elected co-captains for the 2019-20 season Senior forward Charles Williams and junior guard Kamal Hardy will represent the Bison this season.
“Charles and Kamal have been leaders on and off the court since they arrived at Howard,” said head coach Kenneth Blakeney. “They are two of the hardest working players on the team and I know they will do a great job representing our program.”
Williams, a native of Suitland, Maryland, is Howard’s leading returning scorer and rebounder from last season. The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 12.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in 2018-19. Hardy, who hails from Brooklyn, New York, started all 30 games for the Bison last season and averaged 8.4 points per contest.
Newcomers
The Howard University Bison men’s Basketball team will welcome four newcomers to the roster for the 2019-20 season, Head Coach Kenneth Blakeney announced today.
The class is highlighted by 6-8 forward Charles Williams (Silver Spring, Md./Dr. Henry Wise), who comes to Howard after a two-year stint at George Mason University. Williams will have two years of eligibility remaining.
