Early Life and High School

Shaheen Holloway was born on October 21, 1976, in Paterson, New Jersey. Shaheen’s father, Mike Holloway, playedbasketball for Montclair State University from 1974 to 1978. Mike Holloway’s basketball career at Montclair State inspired Shaheen to pursue a career in basketball. Shaheen played High School basketball at Paterson Catholic high school During his time at Paterson Catholic, Shaheen was teammates with future NBA player Kerry Kittles.

College Career

Shaheen Holloway played college basketball at Seton Hall University from 1996 to 2000. During his college career, he was named the Big East Rookie of the Year, and was a two-time All-Big East selection. He helped lead Seton Hall to the NCAA tournament three times, and was part of the team that reached the Elite Eight in 2000. Upon graduation, Holloway was drafted by the New Jersey Nets in the second round of the 2000 NBA draft

Professional Career

After playing two seasons of college basketball for Seton Hall University, Shaheen Holloway entered the 1998 NBA Draft and was selected in the second round with the 46th overall pick by the New Jersey Nets He played three seasons for the Nets, averaging 5.1 points and 2.6 assists in 164 games, before being traded to the Houston Rockets in 2001. He spent one season with the Rockets, averaging 3.1 points in 60 games, and was then waived by the team. In 2002, Holloway joined the Harlem Globetrotters and played with them for two seasons.

In 2004, he signed with Albanian club BC Partizani Tirana, and helped them win the Albanian League Championship that year. The following season, he won both the Albanian League and Cup titles with Partizani Tirana. In 2006, he moved to Lebanon and joined Al Riyadi Beirut, winning both the Lebanese League and Cup championships that year. He then spent one season apiece with Lebanonese clubs Al Moutahed Tripoli (2007–08) and Al Riyadi Beirut (2008–09), winning another Lebanese League title with Al Riyadi Beirut in 2009.

Holloway retired from playing Professional Basketball in 2009, and became Head Coach of his former team Al Riyadi Beirut in 2010. He coached them to a Lebanese League Championship in 2012.

Post-Playing Career

Shaheen Holloway’s post-playing career has been just as successful as his playing career. He has been an Assistant Coach for the New Jersey Nets Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks He was also the head coach for St. John’s University men’s basketball team for four years. In 2018, he was inducted into the Shaheen Holloway Basketball Hall of Fame

Coaching Career

Shaheen Holloway is an assistant coach for the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets He is a former professional basketball player who played for several teams in the NBA and Europe.

Holloway began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the New Jersey Nets from 2004 to 2006. He then served as an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets from 2006 to 2009. In 2009, he became the Head Coach of the St. John’s University men’s Basketball team He coached at St. John’s for two seasons before being hired by the Brooklyn Nets in 2012.

Broadcasting Career

Prior to joining the St. John’s Coaching Staff Shaheen spent four years as a College Basketball analyst for ESPN.

Shaheen has also worked as a game analyst for the Big East Digital Network and as a color commentator for MSG Network and FOX Sports

Personal Life

Shaheen Holloway (born February 16, 1974) is an American former professional basketball player He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Holloway played College Basketball for Seton Hall University from 1993 to 1997. As a freshman, he was a member of the Seton Hall Pirates team that reached the NCAA championship game, where they lost to the Duke Blue Devils

Holloway was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 1997 NBA Draft He played three seasons in the NBA, averaging 3.1 points and 1.9 assists per game In 2000, Holloway’s NBA career came to an end when he was released by the Bucks.

Following his release from the Bucks, Holloway returned to Seton Hall University to complete his degree in Sociology. He also worked as an assistant coach for the Seton Hall men’s basketball team from 2001 to 2006.

Awards and Accomplishments

Shaheen Holloway, former Seton Hall University basketball star had a very successful NBA career. During his time in the NBA, Shaheen was awarded Rookie of the Year, was a two-time All-Star, and won an NBA Championship

Legacy

Shaheen Holloway’s time in the NBA was short, but his impact was significant. A versatile guard who could play both ends of the court, Shaheen was known for his high-flying dunks and for his tenacious defense. He was a fan favorite wherever he played, and his infectious personality endeared him to teammates and opponents alike.

Tragically, Shaheen’s life was cut short by a heart condition shortly after he retired from the NBA. He was only 34 years old.

In the years since his death, Shaheen’s legacy has only grown. He is remembered as one of the most talented and charismatic players in NBA history and his memory is cherished by those who knew him best.
