Introducing the St Thomas basketball roster for the Upcoming Season

The St Thomas men’s Basketball team is set to have an incredible season and we want to introduce you to the roster.

Leading the team is Captain Derek Johansen, a senior point guard who has been with the team for all 4 years of his college career. Derek is known for his amazing 3-point shots and his leadership skills on and off the court. His energy is sure to carry the team through this season.

Also on the roster are several new talented freshmen, including forward Jordan Daniels and guard Franklin Mendoza. Jordan Daniels was a highly touted recruit coming out of High School and he is expected to make an immediate impact on the team. Franklin Mendoza is a local product from Minneapolis who has been turning heads in practices with his shooting abilities.

Rounding out the starting 5 is sophomore center Gustavo “Gus” Martinez and junior shooting guard Alec Brown. Gus Martinez came on strong at the end of last season and he is expected to be a big presence in the post this season. Alec Brown is one of the best pure shooters in college basketball and he will be counted on to provide a consistent scoring punch for the team.

This group of players will be looking to make some noise in the NCAA tournament this year and we can’t wait to see what they can do!

Ray Conner is a 6’5” guard from Brooklyn, New York. Ray is a freshman at St Thomas and is looking to make an impact on the team from day one.

Aidan Hill is a 6’10” center from Albany, New York. Aidan is a sophomore at St Thomas and provides valuable experience and leadership for the team.

Bryce Holmes is a 6’3” guard from Rochester, New York. Bryce is a junior at St Thomas and is one of the team’s top scorers

Izaiah Nash is a 6’7” forward from Syracuse, New York. Izaiah is a senior at St Thomas and is the captain of the team. Izaiah is also one of the team’s top rebounders.

Assistant coach Tony Barbee is in his second season with the team. He has helped Coach Calipari create a culture of success at St Thomas. Prior to coming to St Thomas, Coach Barbee was the Head Coach at Auburn University

Assistant coach Joel Justus is in his first season with the team. He comes to St Thomas after spending four years as an Assistant Coach at Louisville. Coach Justus is known for his ability to develop players and for his knowledge of the game of basketball
