Meet the 2019-2020 UB Basketball Roster

The University at Buffalo men’s basketball team is gearing up for another exciting season! Here’s a look at the squad that will be representing the Bulls this year.

This season’s team will be led by senior guard Jayvon Graves. Graves was named to the All-MAC Third Team last year and is expected to be one of the top scorers in the conference again this season. He’ll be joined in the backcourt by junior guard Ronaldo Segu, who is an excellent three-point shooter and provides a spark off the bench.

In the frontcourt, senior forward Gabe Grant returns after a strong junior campaign. He’ll be joined by junior forwards Ike Iziani and David Mulmore, who are both powerful rebounders. Sophomore center Brad Caldrone rounds out the rotation and provides some much-needed size down low.

A 6-foot-3-inch, 190-pound guard from Niagara Falls NY, Davonta Jordan is entering his junior year at UB. In his first two seasons with the Bulls, Jordan has played in 61 games, starting 21 of them. He’s averaged 5.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in his career.

#2 – Jayvon Graves
A 6-foot-6-inch, 205-pound guard/forward from Akron, OH, Jayvon Graves is entering his sophomore year at UB. Graves was one of the Bulls’ top freshmen last season, appearing in all 33 games and averaging 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team and was an honorable mention for the conference’s Sixth Man of the Year Award

#3 – Ronaldo Segu
A 6-foot-7-inch, 220-pound forward from Mississauga, Ontario, Ronaldo Segu is entering his redshirt senior year at UB. Segu has played in 123 games during his career with the Bulls, starting 42 of them. He’s averaged 5.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in his career.

#4 – Jeenathan Williams
A 6-foot-7-inch, 205-pound forward from Rochester, NY, Jeenathan Williams is entering his sophomore year at UB. Williams appeared in 32 games as a freshman last season, averaging 4.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. He also had 19 steals and 11 blocks last season.

The team has been to the NCAA tournament four times in the past five years, with their most recent appearance coming in 2019. They have a record of 3-4 in those appearances. Additionally, they have won the Mid-American Conference regular season title four times in the past five years. Their overall record in the past five years is 121-57 (.678).

When looking at the roster for this season, it is important to note that there are only two returning starters from last year’s team. This means that there will be plenty of opportunity for other players to step up and make an impact. He has good size at 6’7″ and has shown the ability to score from all three levels during his high school career. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to playing at the collegiate level against better competition.

2019-2020 UB Basketball Roster Highlights

The University at Buffalo men’s Basketball team is ready to tip-off the 2019-2020 season. The Bulls are coming off a historic 2018-2019 campaign in which they won a program-record 32 games, won their second Mid-American Conference Regular Season title in three years, and made their second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance.

Head coach Nate Oats and his squad will look to build upon that success this season with a talented roster that features seven returners and six newcomers. Below is a closer look at each player on the 2019-2020 UB Basketball Roster

Returning Players:

Senior guard/forward Davonta Jordan is the Bulls’ leading returning scorer after averaging 11.5 points per game last season. He also averaged 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 42 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range. Jordan will once again be a key contributor for the Bulls this season.

Sophomore guard Ronaldo Segu will look to build upon an impressive freshman campaign in which he averaged 8.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 42 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range. Segu will be counted on to be one of the Bulls’ top perimeter shooters this season.

Junior forward Jeenathan Williams returns after averaging 8.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game last season while shooting 47 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range, and 75 percent from the Free Throw Line Williams will once again be a key member of the Bulls’ frontcourt rotation this season.

Senior guard Jayvon Graves returns after missing most of last season due to injury. In 2017-2018, Graves averaged 7.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting 39 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range, and 71 percent from the free throw line
