UConn’s leading scorer Katie Lou Samuelson played a pivotal role in the team’s success, with 27 points. As a whole, the team put up an impressive performance offensively, shooting 50 percent from the field. With this victory, UConn Women’s Basketball has now made it to the Sweet Sixteen ten times since 2000.

Despite being down 11 points in the first half, the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team rally to beat the University of Central Florida 75-64 in the second round of the NCAA tournament With the win, UConn advances to the Sweet 16 for the 18th consecutive year.
UConn was led by junior guard Katie Lou Samuelson who scored a game-high 28 points, including six three-pointers. Senior Gabby Williams added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. For UCF, sophomore Zykira Lewis scored 21 points and senior Masseny Kaba had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The game was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than six points. UConn went on a late run to take a 73-64 lead with 1:27 remaining, but UCF would not go away quietly. The Knights cut the lead to 73-64 with 1:03 left, but UConn held on for the 75-64 victory.

This was a total team effort by the Huskies, as all five starters scored in double figures. Sophomore guard Paige Bueckers led the way with 21 points, while junior guard Christyn Williams added 19 points. Senior forward Olivia Nelson-Ododa chipped in with 16 points and 12 rebounds, her 12th double-double of the season.
With the win, UConn improves to 28-2 on the season and will now take on Baylor in the Elite Eight on Monday Night

The UConn Huskies women’s basketball team fended off a late charge by the UCF Knights to prevail 79-73 and reach the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament The game, which was played in Storrs, Connecticut, was a close one throughout, with neither team leading by more than six points.
The Huskies were led by senior guard Katie Lou Samuelson who scored 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Samuelson was her usual self from beyond the arc, knocking down five three-pointers. Freshman guard Crystal Dangerfield also had a strong game for UConn, scoring 15 points and dishing out five assists.
UCF was led by junior guard KayKay Wright, who scored 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Wright also had eight rebounds and four assists in the loss. Senior center Zykira Lewis also played well for the Knights, scoring 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
With the win, UConn improves to 31-2 on the season and will next take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Sweet Sixteen. UCF’s season comes to an end with a record of 25-8.

The Huskies, who are the top seed in the Albany region, trailed by four at the half but took control of the game in the third quarter. They held UCF to just four points in the quarter and took a 37-32 lead into the fourth.
UConn then put the game away with a 16-4 run to start the fourth quarter Katie Lou Samuelson led the way for the Huskies with 15 points, while Gabby Williams added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The win sets up a showdown with second-seeded Texas A&M in the Sweet 16. The Aggies advanced with a 73-64 win over Marquette.

UConn got off to a hot start, jumping out to an early 13-2 lead. The Huskies maintained their double-digit lead for most of the first half and took a 39-28 advantage into the intermission.
After struggling offensively in the first half, UCF came out firing on all cylinders in the second half. The Knights went on a 14-4 run to start the period and tie the game at 43 with just over 15 minutes left.
UConn responded with an 8-0 run of its own to regain control of the contest. The two teams traded baskets over the next few minutes before UCF went on another big run, this time an 11-2 spurt that gave the Knights their first lead of the game at 60-59 with just over six minutes remaining.
The lead changed hands several times down the stretch before UConn finally pulled away in the final minute. The Huskies made their Free throws down the stretch and held on for 79-69 victory.
