The Barons baseball team is a professional Baseball Team based in Birmingham, Alabama. The Barons are the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox and play in the Southern League. The team was founded in 1885 and has won nine league championships, most recently in 2013. The Barons play their home games at Regions Field, which opened in 2013.

The Barons are set to play 140 games in the 2020 season. The home opener is on Thursday, April 9th against the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers. The first half of the season will conclude on Sunday, July 5th. The all-star break is from July 6-10. The second half of the season will resume on Thursday, July 16th and conclude on Sunday, September 20th. Postseason play will begin on Wednesday, September 23rd.

The Barons are a minor league team in the Southwestern League They began play in 1888 as a charter member of the Arizona-Texas League, which became the Southwestern League in 1895. The team has played in five different cities during its history:
Rivalries
The Barons have many rivals, but the most intense rivalries are with the Birmingham Black Barons, the Montgomery Biscuits and the Mobile BayBears. These rivalries are based on geographical proximity and the fact that all three teams are in the same division of the Southern League.
