Introduction

This season, the Grambling baseball team is looking to make some noise in the Conference Standings Head Coach Jarrad Grantski has put together a talented roster that features a mix of experienced veterans and young up-and-comers. Here’s a closer look at the team:

Grambling State University’s baseball roster is filled with talented student-athletes who are ready to compete at the Division I level. The roster includes pitchers, infielders, outfielders, and catchers who hail from all over the country. Get to know the Grambling baseball roster below.

The Infield

The infield is the part of the baseball field near the home plate It consists of four positions: first baseman, second baseman, shortstop and third baseman.

First baseman is considered one of the most important positions in baseball. The first baseman’s job is to catch balls that are hit by the batter and stop them from going into the outfield. They also have to try to get runners out who are trying to steal bases.

Second baseman’s play an important role in both Offense and defense They have to be able to hit the ball well and field it cleanly. On defense, their job is to turn double plays, which means getting the ball from the fielder to the first baseman as quickly as possible so that two outs can be made at once.

The shortstop is responsible for covering a lot of ground on the Baseball Field They have to be able to field balls hit by the batter and then throw them quickly to first base in order to get runners out. They also need to be ableto hit the ball well so that they can get on base and score runs for their team.

Third basemen are responsible for stopping balls hit by the batter from going into left or right field. They also have to try to get runners out who are attemptingto steal bases. Third basemen need to have a strong arm so that they can throwthe ball quickly and accurately to first base in orderfor outs soucan be made.

The Outfield

In baseball, the outfield is the area of the field beyond the infield. The outfield is made up of three primary positions: left field center field, and right field. These positions are so named based on their location on the baseball diamond in relation to home plate Outfielders are responsible for catching fly balls that are hit into the outfield and preventing runners from amassing extra bases.

There are three field positions on a standard Baseball Team left field, center field, and right field. The Left fielder is stationed on the left side of the diamond, the center fielder is stationed in center field, and the right fielder is stationed on the right side of baseballdiamond.

Left fielders have a few responsibilities. They need to have a strong arm to be able to throw runners out at first or second base if they try to stretch a single into a double. They also need to be quick enough to track down fly balls that are hit into foul territory down the line. Because left-handed hitters tend to pull the ball more than right-handed hitters, left fielders often see more action than their counterparts in right field.

Center fielders are typically considered the best athletes on the team because they need both speed and a strong arm to play the position effectively. Center fielders need to be able to track down fly balls hit deep into the outfield and also need to have a strong throwing arm to prevent runners from taking an extra base if they manage to getsingles into gaps in the outfield defense.

Right fielders need a strong arm as well, but they don’t see as much action as left or centerfielders because most hitters are right-handed and tend to pullthe ball towards left field when they hit it.

The Pitchers

Pitchers are a vital part of any baseball team and the Grambling Tigers are no exception. Here is a brief introduction to the pitchers on the 2019 Tigers roster.

Flame-throwing right-hander Ronald Batista is a former JuCo All-American who transferred to Grambling from Louisburg College. Batista has electric stuff, including a fastball that has been clocked at 100mph. He will be a key member of the Grambling bullpen this season.

right-hander Quinton Hotel is another important piece of the Grambling pitching staff. Hotel did not allow an earned run in his first 14 innings of work last season and was named SWAC Newcomer of the Year. He will be counted on to be a major contributor out of the Grambling bullpen this season.

The Catchers

Grambling State has a strong history of producing professional catchers, most recently David Ross, who played for the Cubs, Braves, and Red Sox These are the men who will be tasked with continuing that tradition.

The Coaches

The Grambling baseball coaching staff is led by head coach Jameson Turner. In his fourth season with the Tigers, Turner has led the team to a conference championship and three straight appearances in the NCAA Regional Tournament

Assistant coaches include:
-DevinHBradley, who is in his first season as the Pitching Coach after serving as an assistant at his alma mater, Birmingham Southern
-ChrisLawson, who is in his first season as the Hitting Coach. Lawson comes to Grambling after a successful career as a High School coach in Louisiana.
-WillTrammell, who is in his second season as thegramblingbaseball team’s Defensive Coordinator. Prior to joining the Tigers, Trammel served as an Assistant Coach at Jackson State University

The Schedule

The full 2019 baseball schedule was released on Wednesday. The Tigers will open the season on February 15 at Baton Rouge against Southern University. The home opener is set for February 22, also against Southern University.

The 2019 Grambling State Tigers Baseball Team represents Grambling State University in the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball season The Tigers play their home games at Willie Brown Stadium on the university’s campus in Grambling, Louisiana. They are members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference

In 2019, they are led by Head Coach James Cooper, in his 1st year at Grambling State. The team finished the 2018 season 11-43 overall and 6-24 in SWAC play to finish in last place in both the conference’s West Division and overall standings. They failed to qualify for the SWAC Baseball Tournament

The Fans

Grambling fans are some of the most passionate in all of college baseball They love to come out and support their team, and they can be heard cheering loudly throughout the game. Grambling has a rich history of success on the diamond, and fans have high expectations for the team every year.
