Adelphi University Announces Baseball Roster for 2019 Season

The Adelphi University Panthers have announced their 2019 baseball roster The team is looking to build on their success from last year and make a run at the conference title

2019 Season Roster

The Adelphi University baseball team has announced their roster for the 2019 season. The team will be led by seniors Matthew Panzarino and Richard Joa.

The Panthers will also look to contributions from junior outfielder Mike Gazzola, who was named to the NEIBA All-Star game last season, as well as sophomore catcher Matt Ferrara and freshman infielder/outfielder Anthony Critelli.

Rounding out the roster are junior pitchers Andrew huebner, Luke Morrissey, Nick Fabrizzio and Dan Healy, along with sophomore pitcher Vinny Martin and freshman pitcher Joe Ligotti.

Adelphi University

Adelphi University Baseball Head Coach Steve Trimpop has announced the team’s roster for the 2019 season. The team will feature 23 student-athletes, including 15 returners from last year’s squad.

The Panthers will have six seniors, eight juniors, and nine sophomores on this year’s team. The seniors are: Andrew D’Angelo (Plainview, NY / Plainview JFK), Robert Lucido (Buffalo Grove IL / Adlai E Stevenson), Andrew Milanaik (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa), Steven Pustorino (Whitestone, NY / St. Francis Prep), Justin Stone (Syosset, NY / Syosset) and Nicholas Wolfanger (Commack, NY / Commack).

Baseball

The Panthers will have a mix of experience and youth on the roster, with eight seniors and six juniors. The 2020 class will also be well represented with seven members on the team. The pitching staff will be led by junior ace Mikey Fernandez, who was named an All-American last season. The team will also have a strong group of hitters, led by senior slugger Frank Ortiz.

The Panthers will open their season on February 15th against Mercy College

The Panthers will look to build on their success from last season, when they won the Northeast-10 Conference Championship and made their first appearance in the NCAA Division II College World Series

Head coach Gary Lavelle will return for his sixth season at the helm of the Panthers, and he will be assisted by Dan Kane and Frank Leo.

The 2019 roster includes five seniors, 10 juniors, eight sophomores and four freshmen. The team will also feature two graduate students.

The Panthers will open their 2019 campaign on February 22, when they travel to Myrtle Beach South Carolina for a four-game series against West Chester University.

Season

The team will be led by a trio of captains; seniors Alec Kisena (Commack, N.Y.) and Mike Viegas (Bay Shore, N.Y.), and junior Vinny Dolan (Oceanside, N.Y.). Kisena and Viegas will serve as co-captains while Dolan will serve as the sole captain for the 2019 campaign.

The Panthers return 19 players from last year’s squad that went 18-22 overall and 10-12 in conference play

The Adelphi University Baseball Team has announced its roster for the 2019 season. The team will be composed of 28 student-athletes, including 14 freshmen, six sophomores, four juniors and four seniors.

The Panthers will be led by returning senior captain Chris Loporto. Loporto, a native of Floral Park, New York, is a catcher who bats cleanup and provides a steadying influence for the younger players on the team. Other key returners include junior first baseman Mike Abate, who hit .333 with four home runs and 26 RBI last season, and sophomore outfielder Nickolas Panitz, who was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year after hitting .350 with five home runs 32 RBI and 12 stolen bases

The Panthers will open their 2019 season on February 23rd with a three-game series against Felician University at home in Garden City, New York.

The roster includes 12 pitchers, four infielders, six outfielders, and three utility players Infielders Kevin Gsell (Suffolk County Community College), Matt Lupoli (Nassau Community College), and Vinny Martin (Stony Brook University) will be returning to the Panthers this season. Outfielders Chris DelliQuadri (University at Albany), Joe Ferrante (University of Rhode Island), and Mike McCabe (Adelphi University) are also back for the 2019 campaign.

The pitching staff will feature four left-handers and eight right-handers, including newcomers Kyle Cone (University of Tampa), Mattison Higgins (Kellyugak Junior College), and Matt Sutter (Nassau Community College).

The team will open up its 2019 season on February 22nd with a Home game against rivals Stony Brook University
