AHSAA Baseball: The Road to the Championship
The 2021 season will see some changes in the way teams are classified for the State Tournament In order to be more equitable and have a more level playing field, the AHSAA has implemented areas for baseball. Below is a list of the areas and the teams that will be competing in each one.
Class 1A-5A:
-Area 1: Daphne, Spanish Fort, Foley, Baldwin County
-Area 2: Opelika, Auburn, Lee-Montgomery, Wetumpka
-Area 3: Vestavia Hills Mountain Brook Hoover, Pelham
-Area 4: Huntsville, Grissom, Decatur, Austin
Class 6A-7A:
-Area 1: Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, Pelham
-Area 2: Opelika, Auburn, Lee-Montgomery Reese’s Senior Bowl – Mobile Register (blog)
AHSAA Baseball: The State Championships
The AHSAA baseball playoffs will consist of eight area tournaments across the state, with four teams qualifying from each area for the State Tournament The first round of the playoffs will be a best-of-three series, with all other rounds being single elimination. Below is a list of the eight areas and the schools that will be competing in each.

AHSAA Baseball: The Area Championships
The Alabama high school Athletic Association (AHSAA) sanctions competition in a variety of sports for high school students in the state of Alabama. In order to compete in AHSAA-sanctioned events, teams must first qualify through their Area Championship.
The 2021 AHSAA baseball season will culminate with the Area Championships, which will be held May 12-13 across the state. A total of 24 teams will qualify for the Area Championships, with each team guaranteed to play at least two games.
The Area Championships will be hosted by various high schools around the state, with each school hosting one or two Area Championship Games The complete schedule and list of schools hosting Area Championship games will be released at a later date.
The top four teams from each Area Championship will advance to the state tournament which will be held May 27-29 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama.
AHSAA Baseball: The Sectional Championships
The 2021 AHSAA Baseball Sectional Championships will be held on May 7, 2021. The Sectional Championships are the first step in the process to determine the state champion in each classification.
There are eight Sectional Championships, each of which is played between two teams. The Sectional Championship game is a best-of-three series, with the higher seed being the home team for games one and three (if necessary).
The AHSAA Ball State Tournament will be held May 27-29, 2021 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama.
AHSAA Baseball: The Super Regional Championships
The AHSAA Baseball Playoffs are divided into eight areas. Teams are placed into areas based on their enrollment. The eight champions advance to the Super Regional round.
A total of 64 teams make the playoffs. The first round consists of best-of-three series with the winners advancing to the double-elimination regional tournaments.
The regional tournaments will be held at sites to be determined by the AHSAA office. The eight regional champions advance to the Super Regional Round, which will be held at three sites: Hoover Met Complex in Hoover,riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery and Paterson Field in Troy.
The state tournament will be held at Alabama State University’s Montgomery campus for the third consecutive year.
AHSAA Baseball: The State Tournament
The state tournament will be held at Paterson Field on the campus of Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama, from May 27-29, 2021. The tournament is a double-elimination event, with the semifinals and finals being best-of-three series.
There will be four areas in the state tournament with Area 1 consisting of teams from the north and west parts of the state, Area 2 consisting of teams from central and north-central Alabama, Area 3 consisting of teams from south-central and southwest Alabama, and Area 4 consisting of teams from southeast Alabama.
The first round of the state tournament will be as follows:
Area 1: (1) Gadsden City vs. (4) Dothan
Area 2: (1) Spanish Fort vs. (4) Muscle Shoals
Area 3: (1) Davidson vs. (4) Baker
Area 4: (1) Opelika vs. (4) Dale County
AHSAA Baseball: The Area Tournament
The Area Tournament is the second level of the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s (AHSAA) Baseball Playoffs The tournament is single-elimination and contested by eight teams from across the state.
The tournament is divided into two areas, each of which contains four teams. The two area winners will advance to the AHSAA State Baseball Tournament which is held at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama.
The Area Tournament will be held on May 14-16, 2021.
AHSAA Baseball: The Sectional Tournament
For the AHSAA baseball playoffs that begin on Friday 8 May 2021, the sectional tournament will be played at various sites around the state from 8-10 May. The area tournament will be played at Hoover Metropolitan Complex in Hoover, Alabama from 11-13 May. The Super Regional tournament will be held at Montgomery Riverfront Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama on 14-16 May.
AHSAA Baseball: The Super Regional Tournament
AHSAA baseball will have 8 Super Regional tournaments in 2021. The AHSAA baseball playoffs start with area tournaments. The top four teams from each area advance to the Super Regional The winners of each Super Regional advance to the AHSAA state tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, May 27-29.
