Jones’ career came to an end after he was traded to the San Diego Chargers in 1972. He retired from professional football after playing two seasons with the Chargers. After his retirement from football, he worked as a commentator for ABC’s Monday Night Football telecasts. He also worked as an actor, appearing in such movies as The Longest Yard (1974) and The Dirty Dozen: The Fatal Mission (1988).
