Brian Furlong was born and raised in a small town in Upstate New York He dreamed of playing professional baseball but he knew that the odds were against him.

He played Little League and then Babe Ruth League Baseball and he was good. But he wasn’t big enough or strong enough to play in High School so he focused on his studies and played on his school’s varsity team as a pitcher and shortstop.

He worked hard and managed to get a scholarship to play baseball at a small college in Pennsylvania. He excelled there, and after two years he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth round of the amateur draft.

He spent four years climbing through the minor leagues, making it to Triple-A before being called up to the major leagues in September of 2000. He made his Major League debut that September, pitching one inning of relief against the Houston Astros

He pitched well in limited action for the Pirates over the next two seasons, but he was traded to theansas City Royals in 2002. He pitched well for them too, but was released after the 2003 season.

He bounced around for a few years, pitching for independent League teams and foreign teams before finally hanging up his cleats for good in 2007.

Looking back on his career, Brian Furlong is proud of what he accomplished. He knows that he made it further than most people ever dream of making it, and he knows that he gave it everything he had.

After high school Brian decided to pursue his dream of playing Professional Baseball He enrolled at San Diego Mesa College, where he played for two years. During his time at Mesa, Brian was named a junior college All-American and helped lead the team to a conference championship After two successful years at Mesa, Brian transferred to Long Beach State University where he continued his Baseball Career

Brian had a successful career at Long Beach State earning All-Big West Conference honors twice. He also helped lead the team to the College World Series in 2012. After three years at Long Beach State Brian was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 13th round of the 2013 MLB Draft

In 2014, Brian made his professional debut with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League. He had a successful season with Salem-Keizer, hitting .291 with six home runs and 30 RBIs in 59 games. The following year, Brian played for the Augusta Greenjackets of the Class A South Atlantic League In 102 games with Augusta, he hit .270 with 12 home runs and 58 RBIs.

After two successful seasons in the minors, Brian made his Major League debut with the Giants in 2016. He appeared in four games for San Francisco that season and recorded one hit in five at-bats (.200 batting average). Brian spent most of the 2017 season with Triple-A Sacramento, but he did appear in four games for the Giants during September call-ups. He is currently on the Giants’ 40-man roster and is expected to compete for a spot on the Major League roster this spring training
