The most recent team to make a deep run in the playoffs was the 2015 team, which made it to the semi-finals of the State Tournament That team was led by pitcher Tanner Becton, who went on to play college baseball at UNC-Greensboro.

Some of the other great players to come out of East Lincoln baseball include Major League Baseball players such as Matt Joyce and Brad Ziegler. Joyce, a native of Mooresville, played for East Lincoln from 1999-2001 before being drafted in the 12th round by the Detroit Tigers Ziegler, a native of Lincolnton, played for East Lincoln from 1995-1997 before being drafted in the 20th round by the Houston Astros Both Joyce and Ziegler have gone on to have successful Major League careers.

The coaches who have led East Lincoln baseball over the years have also been a big part of its success. Current Head Coach Mike Huckabee has been with the program since its inception in 1976. He has led the team to nine conference championships and four State Tournament appearances. Other coaches who have made a significant impact on East Lincoln baseball include Assistant Coach Scott Clark and former assistant coach David Connerly.
