FDU baseball roster Meet the Team

The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team is composed of 28 student-athletes from all over the country, including 15 who call New Jersey home. The team is made up of 20 Position players and eight pitchers, representing 12 states and Puerto Rico

The Knights are coming off a 2018 campaign in which they posted a 19-27 overall record and went 12-12 in conference play They will look to build on that success this season with a roster that features experience at every position on the field.

Leading the way for FDU will be senior first baseman/outfielder Matt Forcella (Paramus, N.J.), who was named to the East Conference All-Conference Second Team last season after hitting .321 with four home runs and 27 RBI. Forcella will be joined in the outfield by fellow seniors Frank Podlas (Paramus, N.J.) and Vinny Milone (Metuchen, N.J.), who are both returning starters.

In the infield, the Knights will feature a blend of experience and youth. Seniors Mike Petrizzo (Cinnaminson, N.J.) and Chris Lehr (Waldwick, N.J.) will man the corner infield spots, while sophomore shortstop Kyle Ruedisili (Scotch Plains, N.J.) returns to anchor the defense up the middle.

Behind the plate, FDU will have junior catcher Tyler Bednarz (Paramus, N.J.) as its primary backstop. Bednarz appeared in 32 games last season and hit .262 with nine RBI while throwing out 12 would-be base stealers.

On the mound, senior right-hander Mike Fasciglione (Wayne, N.J.) will return as the ace of the staff after going 5-5 with a 3.86 ERA in 13 starts last season. Fasciglione will be joined in the rotation by fellow seniors Nick Polishchuk (Fredon Township, N

Infielders:
-George Diaz #2
George is a senior infielder from Queens, NY. He is a four-year starter and captain for the team. George is majoring in accounting and plans to pursue a career in finance after graduation.
-Mikey Candelaria #3
Mikey is a junior infielder from Clifton, NJ. He is entering his third year with the team and is majoring in business administration. Mikey plans to start his own business after graduation.
-Tommy Scrivens #5
Tommy is a sophomore infielder from Huntington, NY. He is entering his second year with the team and is majoring in marketing. Tommy plans to pursue a career in marketing or sales after graduation.
--Joe Smith #8
Joe is a freshman infielder from Bridgewater, NJ. This is his first year with the team and he is undecided on his major. Joe plans to play baseball professionally after graduation.

FDU Baseball: Team Roster

The Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights Baseball Team is made up of 27 student-athletes from all around the country, representing eight different states. The team is made up of 16 infielders/outfielders, six pitchers, and five catchers. Infielders/outfielders include TJ Scuderi (New Windsor, NY / Cornwall Central HS), Ryan McLinskey (Paramus, NJ / Paramus HS), and Mikey Drago (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan HS).

Pitchers on the team are Robby Rinnier (Garnet Valley PA / Garnet Valley HS), Mike Zaccardo (Paramus Catholic HS), and Anthony Silorino (Tottenville HS). Catchers are Chris Amorosi (West Deptford NJ / West Deptford HS), Joe Leslie ( Livingston, NJ / Livingston HS), and Matt Petroni ( Howell, NJ / Howell HS).

The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team is ready to take the field for another exciting season of Division I college baseball This year’s team features a mix of experienced upperclassmen and talented newcomers. Get to know the team before they take the diamond!

Pitchers

Andrew Ciervo: A senior from Bordentown, NJ, Ciervo is a hard-throwing right-hander who has been a key member of the pitching staff during his time at FDU. He will once again be counted on to eat up innings and give the Knights a chance to win every time he takes the mound.

Dylan D’Angelo: D’Angelo is a junior transfer from Seton Hall University who provides the Knights with another experienced arm in the starting rotation. The Mt. Laurel, NJ native will look to make an immediate impact in his first season with FDU.

Relievers

Sean Keenan: Keenan is a senior from Hopewell Junction, NY who has been one of the most reliable relievers during his time at FDU. He will once again be called upon to pitch in crucial situations late in games.

Tyler Gupta: Gupta is a freshman from Livingston, NJ who is expected to play a big role out of the bullpen this season. The young right-hander has impressed coaches and scouts with his electric stuff and has already drawn comparisons to former FDU great and current major leaguer Jesse Biddle.

Get to Know the FDU Baseball Players

The Fairleigh Dickinson Knights Baseball team is composed of student athletes from various backgrounds, who have all come together to compete at the Division I level. Although their stories may be different, their dedication to the game is what unites them. Here is a closer look at some of the key members of the team:

Pitcher Nick D’Alessandro, a junior from Mahwah, New Jersey, relies on his fastball and changeup to keep hitters off balance. His deceptive delivery helped him earn five wins last season, including a complete game victory over conference rival Stony Brook

Shortstop Kevin Heissenbuttel was one of the top Defensive Players in the country last season, and he looks to build on that success as a senior leader this year. The Brooklyn native has also developed into a potent hitter at the top of the FDU lineup.

Infielder/outfielder Joseph Amorino provides power and versatility for the Knights. The junior from Jacksonville, Florida was recently named to the Preseason All-NEC team after hitting 10 home runs and driving in 33 runs last season.

Outfielder Dylan Stock brings speed and energy to the FDU lineup. The sophomore from Tom’s River, New Jersey had a breakout year as a freshman, leading the team in stolen bases with 20.

Catcher Connor Doyle is one of the best defensive players on the team. The junior from Suffern, New York has a strong arm and is known for his ability to handle a pitching staff. He also provides some pop at the plate, hitting four home runs last season.

The pitchers include five starters and seven Relief pitchers The infielders are made up of two first basemen, a second baseman, a shortstop, and a third baseman. The outfielders consist of a Left fielder a center fielder, and a right fielder. The catcher rounds out the team.
