O’Gorman High School is a private, Catholic high school in Sioux Falls South Dakota The school is named for Archbishop William O’Gorman, who founded the high school in 1909. O’Gorman high school has a long and proud tradition of success in academics and athletics. The school is a member of the South Dakota high school Activities Association and participates in Class A baseball.
The O’Gorman Knights baseball team has been one of the most successful programs in the state of South Dakota winning 13 State Championships since the program began in 1915. The Knights have also produced numerous Major League Baseball players, including Hall of Famer Goose Gossage and current New York Yankees relief pitcher Dellin Betances.

The team’s success is due in large part to their strong pitching staff. The team’s ace, senior Kyle Schultz, has been nearly unhittable this season. In addition to Schultz, the team also has two other senior pitchers who have been pitching well this season.
The team’s offense has also been clicking on all cylinders. Senior first baseman Alex Johnson has been leading the charge, batting over .400 this season with 4 home runs and 20 RBIs. The team’s cleanup hitter junior third baseman Josh Lee, has also been swinging a hot bat, batting .375 with 3 home runs and 15 RBIs.
With the way things are going, it looks like O’Gorman High School could have a very special baseball season

With a strong core of returning players, and a talented group of newcomers, O’Gorman is poised to make another deep run in the State Tournament
The Knights will be led by a dynamic duo in the middle of the lineup, as seniors Ryan Strain and Alex Werns look to power the offense. Strain is coming off a junior season in which he hit .385 with five home runs while Werns hit .360 with four homers.
O’Gorman will also feature a potent 1-2 punch on the mound, asseniors Blake Divis and Easton Palmer return to anchor the rotation. Divis was 6-1 with a 2.20 ERA last season, while Palmer was 5-3 with a 3.33 ERA.
With a strong mix of experience and talent, O’Gorman is poised for another successful season on the diamond.
