The official Ocean City Baseball Schedule has finally been released, and we could not be more excited! After months of anticipation, we now know when and where our favorite team will be playing this season.

This year, the Ocean City baseball team will be playing a total of 30 games, 15 of which will be at home at the Ocean City Ballpark. The season kicks off on April 6th with an away game against the New Jersey Blues, and culminates in a Home game against the same team on September 8th.

The Schedule

The 2017 Ocean City baseball schedule is here! Here’s a guide to all the games so you can catch your favorite team in action.

The home opener is Thursday, April 6, at 7:05 p.m. against the Northern Division rival Delmarva Shorebirds. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive an Ocean City baseball T-shirt courtesy of PNC Bank.

The seven-game homestand also includes games against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (April 7-9) and Salem Red Sox (April 10-12). Promotions during the homestand include Thirsty Thursdays, presented by Miller Lite ($2 16-ounce drafts all game long), Fireworks Fridays, and Kids Eat Free Saturdays.

On Tuesday, May 30, the team will host a “5Tool Night” at 7:05 p.m., featuring a pre-game happy hour and post-game firework show. The night will highlight the five tools of baseball: hitting for average, hitting for power, baserunning, fielding, and pitching.

The Teams

Whether you’re a local or a tourist, if you’re a baseball fan Ocean City is the place to be during the summer. The town has two teams, the Beach Bums and the Surf Dogs, that play in the Coastal Plain League

The Beach Bums are in their 10th season and play at The Byrd Stadium, which is located on the campus of Coastal Carolina University. The team is made up of collegiate players from across the country who are looking to develop their skills before entering the professional ranks. In addition to being a lot of fun to watch, the Beach Bums are also very community-oriented, hosting several events throughout the season that give back to charities in Ocean City.

The Surf Dogs are in their 21st season and play at Buck Hardee Field, which is located on 61st Street. The team is made up of players from all over the world who have come to Ocean City to develop their skills and showcase their talents for colleges and professional scouts. The Surf Dogs are also very community-oriented and host several events throughout the season that give back to charities in Ocean City.

The Ballpark

The Ballpark at Ocean City is located at 10th Street and the Boardwalk. The seating capacity is 4,200 with a mix of field level, Box seats bleachers, and group picnic areas. The field dimensions are 360 feet to left field 400 feet to center field, and 325 feet to right field. The Ballpark has two concession stands, four restrooms (two family-friendly), and a gift shop.

As the official home of the Baltimore Orioles Baltimore residents have a lot of pride in their team. But don’t forget about the other teams in the area! The Washington Nationals Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates all play in the National League East division, so they’re considered rivals of the Orioles.

The Tradition
