Stonehill College Baseball Releases 2019 Roster

Stonehill college baseball has announced their 2019 roster. The team is looking to build on their success from last year and compete for a conference championship

2019 Roster

The Hill College baseball team has announced its 2019 roster. The team is composed of 30 student-athletes, including 23 returners and seven new players.

Headlining the returners are tri-captains senior second baseman Jack Fitzpatrick (Norwood, Massachusetts/Norwood), senior right-hander Chris Bosco (Bridgewater, Massachusetts/Bridgewater-Raynham), and junior outfielder Jared Sharkey (Sandwich, Massachusetts/Sandwich). Fitzpatrick is a two-time All-Northeast-10 Conference Second Team selection, while Bosco garnered NE10 All-Rookie honors in 2016. Sharkey was named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team in 2017.

The Skyhawks will look to build on a 2018 campaign that saw them go 18-22 overall and 10-14 in the NE10 en route to qualifying for their fourth straight conference tournament Stonehill opens its 2019 schedule on Saturday, February 16th when it travels to Kissimmee, Florida for a four game series against reigning NCAA Division III National Champion Marietta College.

Team Captains

Stonehill College head baseball coach Patriq0 Celestin is pleased to announce the team captains for the 2019 season. Senior catcher Matt Warren (Franklin, Mass./Mount Saint Charles Academy) and senior outfielder Mikey Richardson (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) will serve as co-captains this season.

New Additions to the Team

The Hill College Baseball Team has announced their 2019 roster, which includes several new additions to the team. Among the new players are pitcher Ryan Brown, who transferred from the University of Maine and infielder/outfielder Matt Sullivan, who comes to Stonehill from Malden Catholic High School

The team will be looking to build on their success from last season, when they finished with a 28-16 record and made it to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in five years. Head Coach Eric Podbelski is entering his sixth season at the helm of the program, and he will be aided by assistant coaches Steve Dalkowski and Mike Lyons.

Schedule

The Stonehill College baseball team recently released their 2019 roster. The team will have 27 student-athletes representing 18 states and Puerto Rico

This year’s schedule features 34 home games 26 of which will be played at Skyhawk Park in Easton. The Skyhawks will also host eight games at Levy Field in Bridgewater, MA.

Game Highlights

The Stonehill College baseball team has announced their 2019 roster, with 13 returners and 11 newcomers.

The Skyhawks will be led by returning seniors Brian Hasting (Outfield), Mike LeBel (Infield), and Jake Stearns (Pitcher). Hastings was second on the team in batting average last season (.333) and LeBel led the team with a .444 on-base percentage Stearns appeared in 10 games out of the bullpen last year, posting a 2.70 ERA.

The team will also look to juniors Matt Ronai (Catcher/Outfield) and Nate Pitts (Pitcher) for leadership. Ronai was named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie team after batting .322 with four home runs and 21 RBI last season. Pitts made 14 appearances out of the bullpen, posting a 3.86 ERA.

Sophomores Will Mundell (Infield) and Ryan Healy (Pitcher) are also expected to make an impact this season. Mundell appeared in 27 games as a freshman, hitting .286 with one home run and 12 RBI. Healy appeared in 18 games, making two starts, and posted a 5.29 ERA.

The 11 newcomers on the roster include freshmen pitchers Kevin Purdy, Matt Knighton, and Matt Surdoval; infielders Jack Connelly, Andrew Curran, and Nick Dombkowski; outfielders Michael DeDonato, Ryan Woodworth, and Tim Unczur; and catcher Connor Sullivan.
