WVSSAC Baseball Tournament History and Results
The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC) Baseball Tournament is an annual event that determines the state champion of high school baseball in West Virginia
The tournament has been held every year since 1949, making it one of the longest-running high school baseball tournaments in the country. In its 71-year history, there have been a total of 573 teams that have competed in the tournament. Of those 573 teams, only 17 have won the championship.
The Wheeling Park Patriots have been the most successful team in the history of the tournament, winning a total of six State Championships The Patriot’s most recent title came in 2016. Other notable teams include the Huntington St. Joe Irish (five state championships) and the South Charleston Black Eagles (four state championships).
The tournament is typically held over a two-week period in May or June and consists of four rounds of play. The first two rounds are held at regional sites with four games being played at each site. The winners of those games then advance to the Quarterfinal round which is held at a predetermined neutral site. The semifinals and finals are then held at yet another predetermined neutral site.

WVSSAC Baseball Tournament Predictions
The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC) Baseball Tournament starts this weekend with Class A and AA games. Here are my predictions for who will come out on top in each class.
In Class A, I think Buffalo will take the title. They have a strong team and they’ve been playing well all season. In Class AA, I think it’s going to be either Hurricane or Lincoln County. Both teams are evenly matched and it should be a close game but I think Hurricane has a slight edge.
