Get to Know the 2019-2020 Penn State Women’s Hockey Roster

The 2019-2020 Season is just around the corner and we wanted to help you get to know the Penn State Women’s Hockey Team a little better.

2019-2020 Roster

The 2019-2020 Penn State women’s Hockey Team is made up of 20 student-athletes, eleven of which are returners from last year’s NCAA championship squad. This year’s roster includes three seniors, eight juniors, six sophomores and three freshmen.

Forwards
Forwards make up half of a hockey team’s roster and are responsible for scoring goals The forwards on this year’s Penn State squad are:

-Junior Alex Cavallini (Forward)
-Junior Jordyn Zeilman (Forward)
-Sophomore Taylor gives Smith (Forward)
-Freshman Sammy Davis (Forward)
-Freshman Riley Hertel (Forward)
-Freshman Makenna Webster (Forward)

Defensemen
Defensemen defend their own end of the ice and help their team transition from offense to defense. This year’s defensemen are:
-Senior Kelsey Crowell (Defense)
-Senior Meike Meilleur (Defense)
-Junior Moira Quirk (Defense)
-Sophomore Katie McMillan (Defense/Forward)

Forwards

The 2019-2020 Penn State women’s Hockey team will feature 12 forwards, including six who are new to the team. The forwards are:

Sophomores
– Abbey Murphy (Waterloo, Iowa)
– Olivia Menard (Orleans, Ontario)
– Kristin Schnieder (Clifton Park New York)
– Lindsey Weaver (Mound, Minnesota)
– Toni ACCardi (New Hudson, Michigan)

Juniors
– Ally Yoder (Durham, New Hampshire) – captain
– Shannon Yoxheimer (Jacksonville, Florida) – captain
– Kennedy Marchment (Brampton, Ontario)

Freshmen
– Amber Bowman (St. Johnsville, New York)
– Shelby Bumgarner (Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador)
– Josie Bothun (Edina, Minnesota) catch up with the rest of the roster.

Defensemen

The Penn State women’s hockey team will have eight defensemen on its roster for the upcoming season Here is a closer look at each one:

Sam Rothstein is a senior from Northville, Michigan. She has played in all 32 games for the Nittany Lions over the past two seasons, tallying four goals and nine assists.

Aaliyah Jones is a junior from Chelsea, Michigan. She has also played in all 32 games over the past two seasons, registering two goals and 11 assists.

Tatum Shattered is a sophomore from Blaine, Minnesota. She appeared in 27 games as a freshman, tallying one goal and five assists.

Maggie Knapp is a sophomore from Anaheim Hills, California. She played in 24 games as a freshman, recording one goal and two assists.

MiaITED is a freshman from Eden Prairie Minnesota.

Goaltenders

## Goaltenders
Freshman Amanda Leveille will look to lead the Nittany Lions in net this season. She comes to Penn State after a successful career with the Minnesota Whitecaps, where she helped lead the team to the Isobel Cup Championship in 2018. In addition to her time with the Whitecaps, Leveille was also a member of Team USA at the 2018 IIHF Women’s World Championship earning a silver medal.

Coaches

The 2019-2020 Penn State women’s hockey team will be coached by Jeff Kampersal and Assistant Coach Katie Wilhelm.

Schedule

The Penn State women’s Hockey Team will open up their home schedule on October 4th against Mercyhurst. The Nittany Lions will then host defending National Champion Wisconsin on October 11-12.

Results

The 2019-2020 Penn State women’s Hockey Team compiled an overall record of 22-10-3 and a conference record of 15-6-1. The team advanced to the 2020 NCAA Division I Women’s Frozen Four, where they lost to eventual national champion Wisconsin in the semifinals.

Standings

The 2019-2020 Penn State women’s Hockey Team will look to build on their momentum from last year as they attempt to make it back to the NCAA tournament The Nittany Lions finished the 2018-2019 season with an overall record of 20-14-4, good for fourth place in the highly competitive college hockey America conference. The team’s leading scorer from last season, junior forward Maddie Holmes, will return to anchor the offense, while senior goaltender Erin McNeil will look to build on her impressive campaign in net. With a mix of veteran experience and young talent, the Nittany Lions will be a team to watch this season.

Forwards

Lindsay Agnew – Senior
A native of Strathroy, Ontario, Lindsay Agnew is entering her senior season with the Nittany Lions. Agnew is a veteran leader for the team and was an Alternate Captain last season. She isPenn State’s all-time leader in games played (149) and is second in career points (78). Agnew is a two-time recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award and was named to the All-Big Ten Academic Team in 2017.

Kelly Seward – Junior
Kelly Seward joins the Nittany Lions as a transfer from Robert Morris University She is a native of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and played two seasons with RMU. In 2018, she was named to the All-CHa hockey rookie Team after tallying 13 goals and 11 assists in 36 games. Seward will look to make an immediate impact on the Penn State roster this season.
