Anthony Edwards: The Baseball Star

Anthony Edwards was a highly touted high school baseball player. He played for George Washington high school in New York City As a senior, he was named to the All-City team He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 20th round of the MLB draft but he did not sign with them.

College Career

Anthony Edwards played college baseball for the University of Miami He was a left-handed pitcher and first baseman. Edwards played for the Miami Hurricanes from 1992 to 1994. He was named to the All-Star team in 1993 and 1994. Edwards was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 1994 Major League Baseball draft.

Professional Career

Anthony Edwards was a professional baseball player for the Atlanta Braves from 1985 to 1991. He played in the World Series in 1991, and was named the National League Rookie of the Year in 1985. He was also a two-time All-Star.

Anthony Edwards was born in San Francisco California, on April 8, 1968. He grew up in the city’s Richmond District and attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory for high school After graduation, he enrolled at the University of California Berkeley, where he played baseball for the Golden Bears

Edwards had a successful college career and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the 1990 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his Major League debut with the Braves in 1991 and played parts of three seasons with the team before being traded to the San Diego Padres in 1994. He played two more seasons with the Padres before being released in 1996.

Edwards then signed with the Chicago Cubs and played one season with their Triple-A affiliate before retiring from baseball in 1997.
