Averett Baseball: A Program on the Rise
The Averett University baseball program has come a long way in recent years Just a few short years ago, the team was struggling to find its footing. But under the leadership of Head Coach Dwayne Pollock, the team has turned things around in a big way.
In just his second season at the helm, Coach Pollock led the team to its first-ever conference championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division III World Series The team fell just short of winning it all, but the experience was invaluable for a young squad that is only getting better with each passing year.

The Averett Baseball Program The Future
Since joining the USA South Athletic Conference in 2013, the Averett Cougars baseball program has made marked strides. In just their fourth season in the conference, the team won the regular season title with a 20-4 record. They followed that up by winning the conference tournament championship and earning a berth in the NCAA Division III National Tournament It was the first time in school history that Averett had qualified for the National Tournament
The team is coached by Kevin McMullan, who is entering his fifth season at the helm. Under his leadership, the team has compiled a 96-52 record, for a winning percentage of .648. He has been named Coach of the Year three times (2013, 2015, 2016) and led the team to its first Conference Championship and NCAA appearance in 2016.
The future looks bright for Averett baseball. The team has a strong core of young talent, with several players having already earned All-Conference honors. With Coach McMullan at the helm, they look poised to continue their success in the years to come.

In just four short years, the Averett University Baseball program has developed into a premier Division III baseball program in the state of Virginia. In 2019, the Cougars finished with a 27-15 record and hosted an NCAA regional for the first time in program history. Averett has seen thirty-seven of its student-athletes earn All-Conference honors in the USA South Athletic Conference five named ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, two attract attention from Major League Baseball scouts and one sign a professional contract. The future is bright for Cougars baseball and it all starts with head coach Jason Barnett and his staff.
Coach Barnett enters his fifth season at the helm of the Averett Baseball Program in 2020. He has compiled a 96-79 (.548) record at Averett, which includes three winning seasons, two 30+ win campaigns and an appearance in the 2018 USA South athletic conference Championship game In 2019, Barnett was voted by his peers as the USA South Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars to their first ever appearance in an NCAA Regional Tournament He has coached six first team All-Conference performers, four second team honorees and two conference Players of the Year.
