Baseball at NC State is more than just a game – it’s a tradition. The Wolfpack has one of the most passionate and loyal fan bases in college baseball and they are always out in force cheering on the team.

With 27 conference championships and 10 College World Series appearances, the Wolfpack have had plenty of success on the field over the years. The current team is looking to add to that legacy, and they have their sights set on Omaha once again this season.

If you’re planning on attending a game atDoak Field this year, here are a few things you should know:

· Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the box office on game day
· The gates open 90 minutes before first pitch, so arrive early to get your seat and catch all the pre-game festivities.
· The Wolfpack Shop located behind home plate sells all the official NC State merchandise you could ever want.
· Concessions are available inside the stadium, and there are also plenty of food trucks parked outside for your convenience.

The History of Baseball at NC State

Baseball has been a part of NC State since the university’s earliest days. The first intercollegiate game in North Carolina was played on campus in 1867, and NC State fielded a team as part of the Athletic Association of the Carolinas Conference (AACC) from 1896 to 1911. The AACC was the forerunner to today’s Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

In 1903, the AACC held its first Baseball Tournament on Raleigh’s newPullen Park, now home to Raleigh’s Amtrak station. NC State won that tournament, and went on to win three more AACC titles in 1905, 1906, and 1910.

After the breakup of the AACC, NC State joined the Southern Conference (SoCon), winning titles in 1922 and 1924. In 1925, the SoCon held its first Baseball Tournament NC State won that event as well, and went on to win two more SoCon championships in 1928 and 1931.

NC State left the SoCon after the 1938 season for the new Division I Southern Conference but returned to the SoCon in 1954. The Wolfpack won back-to-back championships in 1955 and 1956.

After one season in Division II due to NCAA rules violations, NC State returned to Division I competition in 1960. The Wolfpack made it back to postseason play in 1963 by winning the ACC title; they would go on to win five more ACC championships in 1965, 1968, 1969, 1973, and 1980. In 1972, after finishing second in the regular season standings behind South Carolina NC State went on to win their first ever College World Series by defeating Arizona 3-2 in 11 innings in the Championship game The Wolfpack would make it back-to-back national titles by defeating USC 5-4  in 12 innings  in 1973. These remain the only two National Championships in program history.

The NC State baseball Program

The NC State baseball program is one of the most successful in the country. The team has won 19 conference championships and has made 31 appearances in the NCAA tournament including five College World Series appearances. The team plays its home games at Doak Field, which is located on the university’s main campus in Raleigh, North Carolina

The program has produced many Major League Baseball players, including two-time World Series champion catcher Jay Bell and pitcher Mike Williams.

You can also get Season tickets for $100-200.

The team is coached by Elliott Avent, who is entering his 23rd season at NC State. Avent is one of the most successful coaches in program history, leading the Wolfpack to 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and seven ACC championships. The team has also produced several Major League Baseball (MLB) players, including former All-Stars Devon White and Carlos Quentin.

The NC State Baseball Stadium

The NC State Baseball Program has a long and storied history, dating back to 1896. The Wolfpack have made 28 NCAA tournament appearances and have won 12 conference championships. NC State has also produced 59 MLB Draft picks, including four first-Round Selections

NC State plays its home games at Doak Field at Dail Park, located on the school’s Centennial Campus. The stadium opened in 1966 and underwent a major renovation in 2011. It has a capacity of 3,200 fans.

Doak Field is named after former NC State Head Coach Sam Doak, who led the Wolfpack from 1937 to 1964. He is the winningest coach in school history, with 568 victories.

The stadium is located just off of Western Boulevard, between Hillsborough Street and Pullen Road. Parking is available in the Visitor Lot adjacent to the stadium.

The NC State baseball Schedule

The NC State baseball schedule is set to begin on February 14th with a three-game series against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons The first game of the season will be at Doak Field, and the team will then head on the road for their next ten games. The ACC tournament is set to begin on May 21st, and the NCAA Regionals will start on June 1st.

The NC State Baseball Alumni is a group of former baseball players from NC State University The group was founded in 2006 and has since grown to over 200 members. The alumni group hosts an annual golf tournament and also provides financial support to the NC State Baseball Team

The NC State baseball Future

Since 1895, NC State has fielded a baseball team The Wolfpack has won two College World Series championships, in 1968 and again in 2013. In total, NC State has made 17 trips to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship The Wolfpack has also produced 129 Major League Baseball draft picks and 29 All-Americans. Head coach Elliott Avent has been at the helm of the program since 1997. In his 22 seasons with the Wolfpack, Avent has led NC State to 12 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament appearances, including five trips to the College World Series Under his guidance, NC State has won nearly 70 percent of its games.

The Wolfpack have also been successful in recruiting top talent from around the country. In 2019, NC State’s recruiting class was ranked ninth in the nation by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The class featured four players who were ranked among Baseball America’s top 500 prospects. With Avent at the helm and talented recruits joining the team each year, NC State baseball is poised for continued success in the years to come.
