Booker Suffers Broken Nose in Preseason Game
The Suns’ Devin Booker suffered a broken nose during a season game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.
Booker’s Injury
In a recent pre-season game, Suns’ shooting guard Devin Booker suffered a broken nose. This injury will unfortunately sideline Booker for the remainder of the pre-season.
This is not the first time that Booker has had to deal with a broken nose, as he also fractured his nose during his rookie season. However, this most recent injury is not related to the previous one.
The injury occurred when Booker was trying to block a shot by Portland’s center, Jusuf Nurkic. He took an inadvertent elbow to the face and fell to the floor. He was visibly in pain and had to be helped off the court by teammates.
Initial X-rays revealed that Booker had indeed suffered a break in his nose. He will undergo further tests to determine if there is any additional damage.
The Preseason Game
The Preseason game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls was a tough one, with both teams giving it their all. Unfortunately, it was also a costly one for the Cavaliers, as star player Booker broke his nose in the first quarter.
Booker is expected to miss the rest of the preseason and possibly the start of the regular season as well. This is a big blow to the Cavaliers, who were already short-handed due to injuries.
Booker’s Recovery
Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker suffered a broken nose during a preseason game against the Portland Trail Blazers the team announced Saturday.
Booker will undergo further evaluation and treatment, but is not expected to miss any regular season games.
The Suns are scheduled to open the Regular Season on October 23 against the Sacramento Kings
The Impact on the Team
The Brooklyn Nets organization and fans were collectively holding their breath when starting point guard D’Angelo Russell went crashing to the ground after taking an elbow to the face from Minnesota’s Jeff Teague. The hit occurred with just under nine minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of the Nets’ 108-102 preseason victory over the Timberwolves on Sunday afternoon, and it resulted in Booker suffering a fractured nose, as per Nets Head Coach Kenny Atkinson.
Atkinson told reporters that the plan is for Booker to return to Brooklyn so that he can be further evaluated by team doctors. As for his status moving forward, Atkinson said that he “wouldn’t be surprised if he misses some time,” but stopped short of ruling him out for Friday night’s preseason game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden
This is obviously not the news that anyone associated with the Nets wanted to hear, as Booker was one of the team’s primary offseason acquisitions. In addition to bringing his scoring ability and playmaking potential to Brooklyn, Booker was also expected to help mentor Russell, as well as serve as a steadying influence on a young Nets squad.
The Future for Booker
While the Suns have said that they don’t believe the injury will have a long-term effect on Booker’s career, it’s still early to tell what the future holds for the young star.

It is unclear how long Booker will be sidelined for, but the Magic will undoubtedly be feeling his absence.
The center was a key part of their rotation last season, averaging 8.6 points and 6.5 rebounds in 21 minutes per game.
Orlando will have to rely on other players to step up in his absence and hope that Booker can recover quickly and return to the court healthy and ready to play.
