The Mississippi State Lady Bulldogs are gearing up for another season of hardwood action. Head Coach Vic Schaefer has built a strong program in Starkville, and the team is poised to make some noise in the SEC once again.

What can fans expect from this year’s squad? Let’s take a look.

Introduction

The Mississippi State women’s basketball team will be looking to improve on their 15-17 record from last season. They have a lot of talent and experience coming back, so they should be a force to be reckoned with in the SEC this year. Here’s a look at what to expect from the team this season.

The Team

This season, the Mississippi State women’s Basketball team is young and inexperienced. They have a lot of potential, but they will likely have some growing pains. The team is led by junior guard Victoria Vivians, who averaged 17 points per game last season. She will need to be a leader on and off the court for this team to be successful. The other returning starters are junior forward Breanna Richardson and sophomore point guard Jazzmun Holmes. The Bulldogs will also have several talented freshmen, including center Chinwe Okorie and guard Andra Espinoza-Hunter. With some time to gel, this team could surprise some people in the SEC.

The Conference

The Conference is one of the toughest in the country

In the conference, there are a lot of great teams. For instance, Tennessee is always a powerhouse, and they have won the conference tournament 11 times. Mississippi State has only won it 3 times. Also, in recent years LSU has been a force to be reckoned with. They have won the conference tournament 4 times in the last 6 years. But, all those teams will have to go through each other to get to the top.

The Competition

This season’s Miss State women’s basketball team is expected to be even better than last year’s, which went all the way to the NCAA championship game. Though they lost some Key Players to graduation, they have a strong core of returning players and have added some very talented freshmen to the mix. The team will once again be led by head coach Vic Schaefer, who is considered one of the best in the business.

The Bulldogs will have their work cut out for them in the SEC this season, as there are several other teams with championship aspirations. Kentucky and South Carolina are always tough, and Tennessee is expected to be much improved this year. In addition, there are several other teams that could pose a threat on any given night.

With all that said, Miss State is still the favorite to win the SEC and they should be in the mix for a national title once again this season. If you’re a fan of good basketball, then you won’t want to miss a single game this season!

If MSU can find some consistent outside shooting, they will be a tough out for anyone come March.
