Introduction

In order to make the team, you must complete the following steps:

1) Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

3) Get recruited by the women’s Basketball Program
4) Attend a tryout for the team.

Eligibility

To be eligible to try out for the team, you must:
-Be a full-time, degree-seeking student at California University of Pennsylvania
-Have completed one semester of full-time enrollment at Cal U
-Maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher
-Be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester
-Be within five years of completing your eligibility

The coaching staff

The Coaching Staff is important because they are the ones who will be teaching you the game and helping you improve your skills. They are also the ones who will be selecting the team. so it is important to make a good impression with them.

The first thing you need to do is fill out an online application. This will give the coaches an idea of your Basketball Experience and what position you would be best suited for.

Next, you will need to attend one of the open tryouts. These are held in October or November. You will need to bring a completed Physical Form which can be obtained from the athletic department website.

Once Tryouts are completed, the coaching staff will make their selections for the team. If you are selected, you will be contacted by the Head Coach and given further instructions.

The Team

The team consists of 12-15 active members who practice 3-4 times per week and play in approximately 30 games per season. The season runs from early November through mid-March. The Schedule

As a Division I program, our women’s basketball team at California University of Pennsylvania competes in one of the most challenging conferences in the nation, the Atlantic 10. To be eligible to compete in the conference tournament and NCAA tournament we must play a tough regular season schedule that includes several games against nationally ranked opponents.

The Fans

The team’s fans, who are affectionately called the “Crazies,” are a big part of what makes playing for the women’s basketball team at Cal U so special. The Crazies come to every Home game sit in the Front Row of the student section and cheer their lungs out for forty minutes straight. They bring homemade signs, they wear face paint and they know all of the players’ names. But most importantly, they create an electric atmosphere in the Convocation Center that makes it one of the toughest places to play in Division II basketball.
