The team
The Central Methodist University men’s Basketball team is a NCAA Division II program that competes in the Heart of America Athletic Conference The team is coached by Drew Thomas and plays its home games at Puckett Field House on the CMU campus in Fayette, Missouri.
The Eagles have appeared in two NCAA Division II tournaments. Their first appearance came in 1984, when they defeated Northeastern State before losing to eventual champion Seattle Pacific in the second round. Their second appearance came in 2001, when they defeated New Hampshire before losing to eventual champion Kent State in the second round.
The Eagles have also appeared in four NAIA tournaments. Their first appearance came in 1950, when they defeated Denver before losing to eventual champion Bradley in the second round. Their second appearance came in 1974, when they defeated Trinity (TX) before losing to eventual champion Oral Roberts in the quarterfinals. Their third appearance came in 1975, when they were defeated by Point Loma Nazarene in the first round. Their fourth and final appearance came in 1976, when they were again defeated by Point Loma Nazarene in the first round.

The object of the game is to score points by shooting a basketball through a hoop 10 feet off the ground. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

The coach
Pat Craft is in his first season as the head men’s basketball coach at Central Methodist University. Prior to CMU, Craft served as an Assistant Coach at both the University of Missouri and Wichita State University He has also been a head coach at the High School and junior college levels.
The season
The season is just getting underway and the Central Methodist University men’s basketball team is already off to a great start. They have won their first two games, both against conference opponents, and are currently atop the Conference Standings With a strong core of returning players and some promising new additions, this could be a special year for the Eagles.

They are currently 27-4 and entered the conference tournament as the top seed Their first game is against 8th seed Graceland University on March 3rd. The winner of this game will go on to play the winner of the game between 4th seed Culver-Stockton College and 5th seed Benedictine College.
