Colin Davis: A Baseball Legend

Colin Davis was born on October 6, 1922, in San Francisco California. He was a star pitcher in High School and college, and he was drafted by the New York Yankees in 1941. He served in the military during World War II, and when he returned to baseball, he played for the Yankees, the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers He retired from playing in 1957, but he continued to work in baseball as a coach and scout. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992.

Colin Davis was born in San Francisco California in 1954. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 1972 MLB Draft and made his Major League debut with the Royals in 1976. Davis played for the Royals for four seasons before being traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in 1980. He played for the Brewers for one season before being traded to the Oakland Athletics in 1981. Davis finished his career with the A’s, playing his final game in 1986.

He played for the Yankees for three years, then spent one year with the Chicago White Sox before being traded back to the Yankees in 1955. He finished his career with the Yankees in 1956.

After baseball, Davis worked in sales for a Sporting Goods company and then as a financial planner. In his free time, he coached little League Baseball and enjoyed golfing and fishing.

In retirement, Davis settled down with his wife Peggy in their native San Francisco They enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren, traveling, and attending baseball games together. Colin Davis passed away on September 2, 2016 at the age of 89.
