3. Next, take your orange Sharpie marker and color in the inside of the cut out circle on one of the halves. Fill in the entire circle until it is solid orange. Repeat this step on the remaining two halves. Allow the ink to dry completely before proceeding to the next step. If you are using three small balls, you will now have two solid orange halves and one black and white half. If you are using one large ball, you will have one solid orange half and two black and white halves.

7.1 Birthdays

No matter what the occasion, these basketball centerpieces are sure to score some points with your guests! From birthdays to game day parties, these DIY decorations will add some serious spunk to your decoration game.

To make these birthday-themed centerpieces, you will need:
-8 small plastic cups
-1 large plastic cup
-1 pack of small black pom poms
-1 pack of small orange pom poms
-1 black Sharpie marker
-1 orange Sharpie marker
-glue
-scissors
Start by using the black Sharpie marker to draw a face on each of the small plastic cups. You can get as creative as you want with the faces, but we went with simple smiley faces for ours. Once the faces are all drawn, it’s time to start glueing on the pom poms. We used two small black pom poms for the eyes on each cup and one small orange pom pom for the nose. You can glue on the mouth however you’d like. We just used a simple straight line for ours, but you could get creative with different shapes or even mini Googly eyes! Let the glue dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Once the glue is dry, it’s time to start assembling the “bodies” of the basketball players To do this, simply take one large plastic cup and glue it upside down onto four of the small plastic cups. Make sure that the mouths of all four small cups are facing inwards so that it looks like they’re cheering when viewed from the front. Again, let the glue dry completely before moving on.
Now that the bodies are assembled, it’s time to give them some legs! For this part, you will need to cut eight 2 inch strips from either construction paper or cardstock. Once they’re cut, fold each strip in half lengthwise and glue or tape them onto the bottom back of each small cup. Let everything dry completely and then your basketball players will be ready to take center stage at your next party!
