ACC Baseball Team

Get to Know the Acc Baseball Team
The Dmacc baseball team is a Community College team that competes in the NJCAA Division II. The team is located in Ankeny, Iowa and plays its home games at the Ankeny Centennial High School The team is coached by Steve Dixon and he is entering his tenth season as the Head Coach of the Dmacc Baseball Team The team’s colors are green and gold.

The Dmacc baseball team has had success in recent years winning the NJCAA Division II World Series in 2015 and 2017. In 2018, the team finished third in the World Series The team has also won eight conference championships four Regional Championships and three district championships.

The Dmacc baseball team roster is made up of 30 players from all over the country. The roster includes six players from Iowa, two from Illinois, two from Nebraska, one from Kansas, one from Florida, one from Georgia, one from Oklahoma, one from Texas, and 12 players from other states.

ACC Baseball Players

ACC Baseball has a very talented roster this season. Here is a closer look at some of the Key Players

Pitchers
-Jake Bennett is a left-handed pitcher who was named conference pitcher of the year last season. He is a returning all-conference player and is expected to be one of the team’s top pitchers again this season.
-Trevor Williams is a right-handed pitcher who was also named to the all-conference team last season. He will be counted on to be one of the team’s top pitchers once again this year.
-Jonathon Meyer is a right-handed pitcher who has transferred from Iowa Western Community College He is expected to add depth to the pitching staff and could see some time in the starting rotation.

Infielders
-Cody Clark is a returning all-conference player who will be manning first base for the Panthers again this season. He is a power hitter who led the team in home runs last year.
-Devon Pierzynka is another all-conference player who will be back at second base for Dmacc this season. He was second on the team in batting average last year and will be looked to as one of the team’s top hitters once again in 2019.
-Parker Schmitt will be taking over at shortstop for Dmacc this season after transferring from Indian Hills Community College He is expected to provide solid defense up the middle for the Panthers.

Outfielders
The Panthers have a solid group of outfielders that includes two all-conference players from last season.
-Lane Myers was named conference player of the year and will be patrolling centerfield for Dmacc again this year. He led the team in batting average stolen bases and runs scored last season and will be looked to as one of the leaders on offense once again in 2019.
-Colby Sledge was also named to the all-conference team last year and will be manning one of the corner outfield spots for Dmacc this season

ACC Baseball Coaches

ACC Baseball has a long tradition of success on and off the field. Under the leadership of head coach Rich Zobrist, the team has won 9 conference titles and made 11 trips to the NJCAA Division II World Series

Coach Zobrist is assisted by pitching coach Scott Marshall and hitting coach Cory Bailey.

The team is made up of 28 student-athletes, hailing from all over the country. These young men have worked hard to earn their place on the team and are ready to compete at the highest level

ACC Baseball is led by Head Coach Justin Byron. The team has an impressive array of players, many of whom have gone on to play professional baseball The Dmacc baseball schedule is as follows:

The Dmacc Baseball Schedule includes games against some of the best teams in the country. The team plays its home games at famed Wrigley Field one of the most iconic stadiums in baseball. The team also makes trips to play against top programs like Vanderbilt, Florida State and LSU.

Dmacc Baseball News

The 2017 season was a historic one for the Dmacc baseball program The team went 41-11 and made it to the NJCAA Division II World Series for the first time in school history. The 2018 team will look to build on that success with a talented roster that includes several players who were key members of last year’s team.

The pitching staff will be led by returning starters Ethan Downs and Tanner Snyder. Downs was one of the best pitchers in the country last season, finishing with a 13-1 record and a 1.49 ERA. Snyder was also impressive, going 8-2 with a 2.48 ERA.

The offense will be anchored by returning leaders Luke Matarazzo and Austin Busch. Matarazzo hit .363 with 12 home runs and 53 RBI last season, while Busch hit .338 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI.

Other key players returning from last year’s team include infielder Nate Pohlman, outfielder/pitcher Trenton Wallace and catcher/infielder Blake Ellis.

-The team is made up of 20 student athletes, hailing from all across the country.
-The team’s average GPA is 3.5, and they have had 5 players named to the NJCAA All-Academic team in the past 3 years.
-On the field, the Dmacc baseball team has been very successful. In the past 5 years, they have won 4 conference championships and made 3 trips to the NJCAA Division II College World Series

The DMACC Baseball Team has a long and successful history, dating back to the early 1900s. The team has won multiple conference championships and has made several appearances in the NJCAA World Series The roster is made up of student-athletes from all over the country, with a strong core of players from Iowa.

Dmacc Baseball Alumni

Dmacc baseball alumni have gone on to have successful careers in a variety of fields. Some have played Professional Baseball while others have become coaches or broadcasters. Here is a brief rundown of some of the most notable Dmacc baseball alumni:

-Davey Johnson: Johnson was the manager of the New York Mets from 1984 to 1990 and led the team to a World Series victory in 1986. He also managed the Baltimore Orioles Cincinnati Reds Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals

--Barry Larkin Larkin played Major League Baseball for the Cincinnati Reds from 1986 to 2004. He was a nine-time All-Star and won the National League MVP Award in 1995. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012.

--Mariano Rivera Rivera is widely considered to be one of the greatest Relief pitchers in baseball history He played for the New York Yankees from 1995 to 2013 and helped the team win five World Series titles. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.
