Introduction

Doral Academy Baseball is one of the most successful baseball programs in the state of Florida. The team has won multiple State Championships and has produced many Major League Baseball players. The Doral Academy baseball program is known for its winning tradition and this is evident in the team’s recent success.

The History of Doral Academy Baseball

Doral Academy baseball has a long and storied history. Founded in 1968, the program has produced many great teams and players. The team has won five state championships including four in a row from 2012 to 2015. In 2016, the team made it to the National Championship game, ultimately losing to Southlake Carroll High School from Texas.

The Doral Academy Baseball Program has also produced many Great players Nearly 50 alumni have gone on to play professional baseball including All-Stars such as Miguel Cabrera and Felix Hernandez. Many other alumni have gone on to play college baseball at top programs such as Stanford, UCLA, and USC.

The Doral Academy baseball program is one of the most successful in the country. The team’s rich history is filled with great accomplishments both on and off the field.

The Current Team

The Doral Academy baseball team is currently ranked number one in the state of Florida. The team is made up of twenty-two players, all of whom have played high-Level Baseball prior to joining the team. The team’s success is largely due to the skill of its players, but also to the hard work and dedication of its Coaching Staff

The team’s Head Coach is Steve Antonucci, who has been with the team for four years. Coach Antonucci has led the team to two State Championships and one National Championship He has twice been named Coach of the Year by the National high school baseball Coaches Association.

Assistant Coach Mike Abdoney is in his first year with the team. Coach Abdoney played college baseball at Florida State University and was a part of two National Championship teams. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team.

The Doral Academy Baseball Team has a long history of success. The team has won five State Championships and one National Championship The team is currently ranked number one in the state of Florida and is looking to add another state championship to its resume.

The Coaches

The Doral Academy Baseball Program has been incredibly successful since its inception, thanks in large part to the dedication and expertise of its coaching staff

Head coach Tony Perez has been with the program since its inception, and his experience and knowledge of the game have helped the team to achieve a level of success that is unmatched in the state of Florida. Coach Perez played Professional Baseball for more than 20 years, including stints with the Cincinnati Reds Montreal Expos and Florida Marlins, and he brings that wealth of experience to bear in his coaching.

Under Coach Perez’s guidance, the team has won five State Championships and has been nationally ranked on multiple occasions. He has also been named Coach of the Year on multiple occasions by both state and national organizations.

Assistant coach Arturo Lopez is also a longtime member of the Doral Academy baseball family having joined the staff in 2008. Coach Lopez played Collegiate Baseball at Stetson University before being drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2001. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Doral Academy Coaching Staff and his dedication to helping his players grow as both athletes and people is evident in everything he does.

Coach Lopez has helped lead the team to four state championships and multiple national rankings. He was also named assistant coach of the Year by perfect game USA in 2016.

The Doral Academy coaching staff is rounded out by assistant coaches Gus Rodriguez and Jorge Valdes. Both coaches are former Doral Academy players who have gone on to have successful professional careers. Coach Rodriguez played Minor League Baseball for six years before joining the Coaching Staff while Coach Valdes played at both the collegiate and professional levels before becoming a coach.

The wealth of experience and knowledge that these coaches bring to the program is evident in the team’s success both on and off the field. The coaches’ commitment to their players’ development as people and athletes is evident in everything they do, and it is clear that they care deeply about each one of their players.

The Facilities

The Doral Academy baseball facilities are top-notch and include six outdoor batting cages, a full-size infield practice area, bullpen mounds, and a weight room. The locker room is complete with showers, bathrooms, and a lounge area for the team to gather before and after games. The team also has access to a state-of-the-art video system that allows players to analyze their swings and study game film.

The Fans

Doral Academy Baseball has a strong and enthusiastic fan base. The school’s colors are blue and white, and the fans are known for wearing blue and white to the games. They are also known for their creative chants and signs.

The Schedule

The Doral Academy Firebirds have released their schedule for the 2018-2019 season. The Firebirds will be looking to build on their successful 2017-2018 season in which they went undefeated in district play and made it to the second round of the playoffs. The Rivalries

The Rivalries
Doral Academy Baseball has had a successful run in the history of Florida high school baseball The Firebirds have won 11 state championships and have been to the State Tournament 27 times. They have also been ranked #1 in the nation 4 times. With all of this success, it is no wonder that Doral Academy has developed some intense rivalries with other schools.

Some of Doral’s biggest rivals are Christopher Columbus high school Miami Springs high school Hialeah high school and Miami Beach high school Each of these schools has their own unique history and tradition, but they all share a desire to beat the Firebirds on the baseball field

Columbus high school is Doral’s biggest rival. The Explorers have won 8 state championships and have been to the State Tournament 22 times. The two schools have played each other 107 times, with Doral holding a slight edge at 54-53. The two teams met in the state championship game in 2014, with Doral coming out on top 3-2 in an extra inning thriller.

Miami Springs high school is another one of Doral’s long-time rivals. The Hawks have won 3 state championships and have been to the state tournament 12 times. Doral and Miami Springs have played each other 85 times, with Doral again holding a slim lead at 43-42. The two teams met in the state semifinals in 2015, with Miami Springs coming out on top 4-3 in another dramatic game.

Hialeah High School is another team that has had success against the Firebirds. The Tarpons have won 6 state championships and been to the state tournament 15 times. Hialeah has played Doral 74 times, with a record of 36-38 in favor of the Tarpons. Hialeah knocked Doral out of the playoffs in 2016, winning 3-2 in the first round.

Miami Beach high school is the final team on this list of rivals. The Tornadoes have won 2 state championships and been to the state tournament 11 times. Miami Beach and Doral have played each other 61 times, with Doral leading 31-30. The two teams met in the playoffs in 2017, with Miami Beach coming out on top 7-5 in yet another close game

The Playoffs

The Doral Academy baseball team has a long and storied history of success. They have won several championships and have made it to the playoffs numerous times. This year, they are looking to add another trophy to their collection.

The team has been working hard all season and their dedication has paid off. They have a strong record and are seeded well in the playoffs. They are facing some tough competition, but they are confident in their abilities.

With a new state-of-the-art facility being built and some of the best young talent in the country coming through the program, Doral Academy is poised to continue its winning ways for many years to come.
