This season, the Emory Baseball Team is one to watch. The team is stacked with experienced upperclassmen and talented young players The pitching staff is deep and the lineup is powerful. With their mix of experience and talent, the Eagles are poised for a great season.
Head Coach Mike Twardzik has been at the helm of the Emory baseball program for 14 seasons. Under his leadership, the Eagles have won three University Athletic Association (UAA) championships and made seven appearances in the NCAA Division III tournament. In 2017, Coach Twardzik was named UAA Coach of the Year after leading the team to a 25-17 record.

Jake Lewis
A senior from Atlanta, Jake is a three-time All-Conference selection and was named Conference Pitcher of the Year last season. He’s a workhorse who anchor’s the team’s pitching staff.
Will Cooper
A junior from Marietta, Will is a hard-throwing right-hander who had a breakout season last year. He’ll be counted on to provide support in the middle of the rotation.
Charles Johnson
A freshman from Montgomery, Alabama, Charles is one of the most highly-touted recruits in recent years He has electric stuff and should make an immediate impact in the starting rotation.

A senior from Miami, Mikey is a two-time All-Conference selection and one of the team’s most experienced players. He’ll provide leadership behind the plate and will be counted on to produce offensively.

It’s a new era for Emory baseball.
The team has a new head coach JohnScheinman, who inherits a squad that went 14-23 overall and produced a 3.70 ERA last season. The Eagles also have a new home, as they will be playing their home games at the state-of-the-art Conway Field, located adjacent to the school’s main campus in Atlanta.
The roster is loaded with talent, as eight Position players and two pitchers return who started at least 10 games last season. The team will be led by senior All-American second baseman Matt Treadway, who batted .360 with four home runs and 36 RBI last season. Other key returners include senior third baseman Andrew Lawrence (.327 batting average), junior outfielder Chris Efficace (.311 batting average), and senior pitcher Michael Edelman (4-4, 3.38 ERA).
The team also has high hopes for a pair of newcomers in freshman shortstop Luke Pickar and transfer catcher Zachary Dalks. Pickar was ranked as the No. 2 overall recruit in the state of Georgia by perfect game USA, while Dalks comes to Emory after two seasons at Division I power Florida State

With a strong core of returning players and some talented newcomers, Emory baseball is a team to be reckoned with this season. The Eagles are coming off a successful campaign in which they posted a 30-15 overall record and reached the NCAA Division III tournament for the second straight year.
Leading the way for Emory will be senior infielder Gabriel Koch, who was named first-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association last season. Koch batted .378 with eight home runs and 40 RBIs in 45 games last year, and he figures to be one of the top hitters in Division III again this season.
also return in the infield is junior second baseman Matt Pita, who hit .341 with four homers and 33 RBIs last year. Pita was named second-team All-South Region by the ABCA last season, and he should once again be one of Emory’s top run producers.
Senior right-hander Michael Bremer will anchor the pitching staff after going 9-2 with a 3.29 ERA in 16 starts last year. Bremer was named first-team All-University Athletic Association and second-team All-South Region, and he will look to build on his successful junior campaign this season.

– senior All-American Michael Breeden leads the way in center field. He is a five-tool player who can hit for power and average, run well, and play excellent defense.
– junior Matt Williams is a talented all-around player who will see time in both left and right field. He has a strong arm and good speed, and he hit .333 with seven home runs last season.
– sophomore Ethan Goforth will also see time in the outfield. He is an athletic player with good speed and a strong arm.

– senior first baseman Will Estrada is one of the best hitters in Division III baseball He led the team with a .392 batting average last season, and he has hit 21 Home Runs over his Emory career.
