Endicott baseball roster The 2022 Season

The 2022 Endicott Baseball roster features 28 student-athletes from all around the country, including 12 from Massachusetts. The roster is made up of 5 seniors, 9 juniors, 10 sophomores, and 4 first-years.

The Infield

The Infield
The infield is the area of the baseball diamond where the four bases are located: first, second, third, and home plate The infielders are the players who occupy these bases when the batter is up to bat. When the batter hits the ball, it is then up to the infielders to field it and make an out, or else get the batter to safety on one of the bases.

First base – Joe Smith
Second base – John Doe
Third base – Jane Doe
Shortstop – Timmy Tom

The Outfield

The Outfield is where the majority of the action takes place in baseball. The three field positions are left field center field, and right field. The main responsibility of the outfielder is to catch any balls that are hit into their territory.

There are typically four outfielders on a Baseball Roster but some teams may carry five or even six. The extra outfielders are usually called “utility outfielders” because they can play any of the three positions.

Now that we know a little bit more about the role of an outfielder, let’s take a look at the Endicott Baseball team’s roster for the 2022 season:

Left Field: Junior Jake Heller will be returning to his starting role in left field for the Gulls. Heller had an impressive sophomore campaign, leading the team in batting average (.338), home runs (5), and stolen bases (7). Heller will look to build on his success from last season as he anchors the Endicott outfield once again in 2022.

Center Field: Center fielder is arguably the most important position on the diamond, and senior captain Charlie Stone will be leading the charge for Endicott in 2022. Stone has been a starter since he was a freshman and has been one of the most consistent players on the team over his career. He has a career batting average of .276 and has also chipped in 14 stolen bases. Stone will be looked upon to provide some much-needed leadership for this young Gulls team.

Right Field: Sophomore Sammy Brooks will be taking over as the starter in right field after appearing in 30 games as a freshman. Brooks is a versatile player who can also play first base and third base. He showed some glimpses of his potential last season, batting .280 with two home runs and four stolen bases. Brooks will look to take his game to another level as he becomes a key contributor for Endicott in 2022.

The Pitchers

The Bench

The bench is a group of players who are not in the starting lineup They typically sit on the pine, or bench, during the game and only enter if a starter is injured or ejected, or if the manager wants to make a strategic change.

For the Endicott Baseball Team the bench players are:
