What this means for Florida
The Florida basketball championships are heading to Orlando, and that means good news for the state of Florida. This event will bring in many visitors from out of state, and it will also provide a boost to the local economy. This is a great opportunity for Florida to show off its hoops talent and its commitment to hosting major sporting events.
The history of the tournament
The Sunshine State has a long and storied history when it comes to college basketball and the state is home to some of the most successful programs in the country. Orlando as a host city
Orlando will be the host city for the Florida basketball Championships, one of the largest youth Basketball Tournaments in the country. The tournament, which is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8, will be held at the ESPN Wide World of sports complex from March 28-31.

The players to watch
As the college Basketball season comes to a close, all eyes turn to the tournament to see which team will take home the Championship Title
While there are a number of teams with a chance at winning it all, there are a few players who could have a significant impact on the outcome of the tournament.
For Florida, senior shooting guard KeVaughn Allen will be a key player to watch. Allen averaged nearly 15 points per game during the regular season and was named to the All-SEC first team. He’ll need to be at his best if Florida wants to make a run at the title.
Another player to keep an eye on is Duke freshman Marvin Bagley III Bagley was one of the most highly sought-after recruits in recent memory and lived up to the hype during his first season of college ball. He averaged a double-double (21 points and 11 rebounds per game) and is a leading candidate for National Player of the Year. If he can continue his stellar play, Duke will be a tough out for any team in the tournament.
Finally, don’t count out Michigan State sophomore Miles Bridges Bridges missed some time during the season due to injury but still managed to average nearly 17 points and 7 rebounds per game He’s also a very good three-point shooter (42% from beyond the arc) and has the ability to take over a game offensively. If he’s healthy, Bridges could help lead Michigan State deep into the tournament.
The schedule
The Florida high school Athletic Association announced the State basketball championships will be played at the HP Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando.
The girls tournament is set for Feb. 28-March 2 and the boys tournament is March 7-9.
This will be the fourth consecutive year the basketball championships have been held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, but the first time at the HP Field House. The arena opened in July and has a capacity of approximately 5,000.
“We are pleased to keep the State Basketball championships in Central Florida and excited to move into this new facility, which will enhance the experience for our student-athletes, coaches, families and fans,” FHSAA executive director George Tomyn said in a release.

For the Gators, this will be their first appearance in the Sweet Sixteen since 2014, when they went on to lose to eventual champions Connecticut in the Final Four. This year, they’ll be looking to make a deeper run in the tournament and bring home a National Championship for the first time since 2006.
The Seminoles, meanwhile, are back in the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2018. They’ll be looking to avenge their loss to Michigan in that year’s tournament and make it to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1993.
With both teams representing the state of Florida so well in this year’s tournament, there is sure to be plenty of excitement and support from fans all across the state.
