Who’s Who on the 2020 Georgia Dogs Baseball Roster

The Georgia Bulldogs are set to take the field for the 2020 season with a talented roster filled with both experience and youth. Head Coach Scott Stricklin will look to lead the Bulldogs back to the NCAA tournament after a one-year absence. Here’s a look at the twenty-five men who will don the red and black this season:

Pitchers
Riley King – A senior from Lawrenceville, King is a right-handed pitcher who has appeared in 31 games over his three years with the Bulldogs, starting five of them. He owns a career 4.03 ERA and will look to be a key member of Georgia’s bullpen in 2020.

Jared Cronenworth – A junior college transfer, Cronenworth is a left-handed pitcher from Gulf Breeze, Florida. He pitched his way to a 6-1 record and 2.81 ERA in 14 games (seven starts) last season at Indian River State College Cronenworth will add much-needed depth to Georgia’s pitching staff.

Tucker Bradley – A senior from Atlanta, Bradley is one of two captains on this year’s team. He is a versatile player who can play all three field positions and even some first base if needed. Over his three years at UGA, Bradley has compiled a .271 batting average with seven home runs and 54 RBIs.

Griffin Bushong – Bushong is a Junior College transfer from Chattanooga, Tennessee. He played his freshman year at Cleveland State Community College before transferring to Georgia Highlands College, where he hit .333 with four home runs and 28 RBIs last season. Bushong will compete for playing time in Georgia’s outfield this year.

This season, the Bulldogs will be led by head coach Scott Stricklin, in his fourth season at Georgia. They will attempt to improve upon their 33-22 (14-16 in SEC) record from 2019, when they finished tied for fifth in the SEC’s Eastern Division and did not make an NCAA Tournament appearance.

2020 Georgia Bulldogs Baseball Roster News and Notes

The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team is set to begin their 2020 season this weekend and will look to build on their 2019 campaign in which they went 24-5 in conference play and advanced to the NCAA tournament

This year’s team will be led by a mix of veterans and newcomers, with eight seniors and eight freshmen dotting the roster. The Bulldogs will also look to a pair of transfers to provide a boost, as catcher Blake Robertson comes over from Georgia Tech and infielder Luke Waddell arrives from Florida State

On the mound, the Bulldogs will be anchored by senior right-hander Kevin Smith who was named first-team All-SEC last season after going 8-4 with a 3.75 ERA. He’ll be joined in the rotation by junior lefty Connor Jones who went 6-1 with a 3.52 ERA in 2019.

In the bullpen, senior right-hander Ryan Webb returns after leading the team with nine saves last season. He’ll be joined by junior righty Will Lawing and sophomore lefty Dylan Christenberry as the Bulldogs’ primary arms out of the bullpen.

Offensively, the Bulldogs will be led by senior second baseman Cam Shepherd, who was named first-team All-SEC last season after hitting .345 with eight home runs and 46 RBIs. He’ll be joined in the infield by Waddell at third base, freshman Jordan Fuentes at shortstop and freshman Dylan Brewer at first base.

In the outfield, junior Tucker Bradley returns after hitting .296 with four Home Runs and 33 RBIs last season. He’ll be joined by seniors Connor Tate and Michael Curry as well as freshman Jay Knox.
