Men’s basketball

College basketball
The 2020–21 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season began on November 25, 2020. The 2021 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from March 18 to April 5, 2021.
College Basketball Rankings are compiled by various publications. The rankings are usually released at the end of each week during the season, but sometimes they are released on a biweekly or monthly basis.
International basketball
In National Basketball the top competition is between national teams. These teams are typically composed of the best players from each country, and they compete against each other in major tournaments like the Olympics, the FIBA World Cup and Regional Championships

The first FIBA World Championship was held in 1950, and it was won by the United States Since then, the US has been dominant in national basketball winning a total of 15 Fiba World Championships (including 5 Olympic gold medals).
Other countries that have had success in National Basketball include Brazil, Yugoslavia (now Serbia), Spain, Argentina, Lithuania, Greece, and Russia.

Street basketball
In many cities across the country, Street Basketball is a popular way to spend an afternoon or evening. There are usually no rules and anyone can join in on the game. The goals are usually makeshift and the courts are often dirty and full of potholes. But that doesn’t matter to the players because Street basketball is all about having fun.

History of basketball
The game of basketball was invented in 1891 by Dr. James Naismith He was a physical education teacher at a YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts. He came up with the game to provide an activity for his students during the long winter months. The first game was played with a Soccer Ball and two peach baskets. The baskets were hung on opposing walls and the object of the game was to throw the ball into the opponents’ basket.
