Outfielders

The outfield is one of the most important parts of the Game of Baseball The outfielders are responsible for catching fly balls and stopping runners from advance too far around the bases. Here is a look at the Okstate baseball roster and the talented outfielders that make up the team.

Designated Hitters

Designated hitters (DH) were introduced to baseball in the American League in 1973. A designated hitter bats instead of the pitcher and does not play in the field. The position is usually filled by a power hitter who can provide some offense but is not adept at Playing Defense In the National League pitchers still hit for themselves.

The designated hitter can be used in any situation, whether it’s to rest a player or to give the team a power boost late in the game. The manager has the option of using a pinch hitter for the DH, but once the DH is removed from the game, he cannot re-enter.

DH’s must be assigned to an offensive position (BattingOrder), so they will not accumulate statistics defensively.

Utility Players

Osuna, a utility player who bats right-handed, has played first base and all three field positions this season. He has appeared in 37 games, with 29 starts. He is batting .333/.385/.542 with five home runs and 21 RBIs.
