Gopher Women’s Hockey Wins National Championship

The Gopher women’s Hockey Team won their fourth National Championship in program history with a 3-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin. It is the first time in five years that the Gophers have won the title, and they become just the second team in NCAA Division I history to win four championships.

The Gophers were led by senior captain Amanda Kessel, who had two goals and an assist in the game. Kessel, who was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, ended her collegiate career with 201 points, second most in program history.

“It was an amazing feeling to finally win it all,” said Rooney. “We worked so hard all season long and it feels great to be rewarded with a National Championship ”
