The GSU Women’s basketball team has been a tradition of excellence since the program’s inception in 1974. The team has won four National Championships and six conference championships while also appearing in the NCAA tournament 27 times. The team is currently coached by Teresa Phillips, who is in her sixth season at the helm. The Tigers have a rich history of success, and look to continue their tradition of excellence for years to come.

The team is currently coached by Sharon Baldwin, who has led the team to unprecedented success in recent years The team plays its home games at the GSU Sports Arena, which is located on campus in Atlanta, Georgia.

The GSU Women’s Basketball Coaches are a tradition of excellence. They have been to the NCAA tournament 10 times, won 5 conference championships, and have been named national Coach of the Year 3 times. The current Head Coach is Sharron Backus, who has been at GSU since 2001.

The GSU Women’s Basketball Arena
The GSU Women’s basketball arena located in Atlanta, Georgia, is the home of the GSU Eagles women’s Basketball team The arena is also the home of the Gatorade’s Womens Basketball Invitational tournament. The arena has a capacity of 8,500 people and is one of the largest arenas in the country for women’s basketball.
The GSU Women’s Basketball Records
The GSU Women’s Basketball Records date back to the 1974 season. The Lady Panthers have won a total of 12 regular season championships and 11 conference tournament championships. They have made 27 NCAA Tournament appearances and have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen 11 times.
In the 1974 season, GSU went 20-2 and won the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) Division II National Championship GSU also made it to the AIAW Division II National Championship game in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992.
GSU has had 30 All-Americans in its history. In 2000, 2005 and 2006 GSU had two All-Americans each year. The most recent All-American is Brittany Brown who was named to the WBCA All-America team in 2009.
GSU has had 7 players who have been named Conference Player of the Year a total of 11 times. The most recent Conference Player of the Year is Brittany Brown who was named Southern Conference Player of the Year in 2009.

The team has won multiple championships at the Division I level, and their most recent title came in 2017. The team is currently coached by Sharron Backus, who has been at the helm since 2013. Backus has led the team to two conference titles and one NCAA Tournament appearance during her time as head coach

The team has won numerous conference championships and made several appearances in the NCAA tournament including a Final Four appearance in 2015. The team is also renowned for its strong academics, with several players receiving All-American honors.

In recent years the Georgia State University women’s basketball team has seen a tremendous amount of success. They have made it to the NCAA Tournament four times in the last six years and have won two conference championships. The future looks bright for the Panthers, as they return all five starters from last year’s team.
