We are excited to introduce the newest members of the George Washington University Basketball team!
Forwards:
– Ryan Holmes is a 6’7” transfer from the University of Rhode Island He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
– Arnaldo Toro is a 6’9” freshman from Puerto Rico He was ranked as a top-100 player in his High School class.
Guards:
– Maceo Jack is a 6’6” sophomore transfer from the University of Memphis. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
– DJ Williams is a 6’2” freshman from Chicago, Illinois.

The George Washington University men’s Basketball team has added two new players to its roster for the upcoming season GW Athletics announced the signings of forward Arnaldo Toro and guard Jamie Lewin on Wednesday.
Toro, a 6-foot-10-inch native of Santiago, Chile, comes to GW from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where he averaged 9.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game as a postgraduate student last season. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Lewin, a 6-foot-3-inch Englishman from London, joins the Colonials after playing two seasons at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. He averaged 15 points and 3.5 assists per game last season while shooting 42 percent from three-point range en route to being named an NJCAA Division I All-American Honorable Mention. Lewin will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Why these new players were recruited, and how they fit into the team’s plans for the upcoming season
The GW basketball team has added four new players to its roster for the upcoming season Two are transfers from other colleges, and two are freshmen.
The two transfers are graduate students Matt Morgan and Patrick Steeves. Morgan is a 6’3″ guard who played his first three seasons at Cornell, where he was a two-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year. Steeves is a 6’7″ forward who played his first two seasons at Michigan, then spent last year as a redshirt at Syracuse.
The two freshmen are Guards Collin Goss and Jaren Sina. Goss is a 6’1″ guard from Massachusetts who was named Mr. Basketball in that state last year. Sina is a 6’3″ guard from New Jersey who was also heavily recruited by several other schools.
Head Coach Mike Lonergan said that all four of these players were recruited for their shooting ability. With the graduated seniors Joe McDonald and John Kopriva gone, the team will be looking for players who can stretch the defense with their outside shooting. Lonergan said that he thinks all four of these players have the potential to be major contributors this season.

-Jair Bolden: A 6-foot-4-inch guard from Los Angeles California, Bolden is a three-star recruit according to ESPN and is ranked as the No. 162 player in the country in the Class of 2017. He will add some firepower to GW’s backcourt with his ability to score and shoot from long range.
-Justin Mazzulla: A 6-foot-5-inch guard from Staten Island New York, Mazzulla is a three-star recruit according to 247Sports and is ranked as the No. 186 player in the country in the Class of 2017. He joins GW after spending a postgraduate year at Tilton School in New Hampshire where he averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists per game Mazzulla is expected to add some much needed depth to GW’s backcourt this season.
Sophomores
Darius George: A 6-foot-9-inch forward from Chicago, Illinois, George transferred to GW from Iowa State last season and sat out due to NCAA transfer rules. He will have three years of eligibility remaining starting this season. George provides some much needed size and strength in the paint for GW and should see significant playing time this season

The George Washington University men’s basketball team is looking to build on last year’s success with the addition of four new players to the roster.
Joining the team are forwards Yuta Watanabe and Arnaldo Toro, guard Jair Bolden, and center Kevin Marfo.
Watanabe, a 6-foot-8 forward from Japan, comes to GW after spending the last two seasons at George Mason University. He will add depth to the frontcourt and provide a scoring threat from outside with his Three-point shooting ability.
Toro, a 6-foot-9 forward from Colombia, comes to GW after two seasons at Chipola College in Florida. He is a strong rebounder and shot blocker who will add an inside presence to the team.

Since joining the team last month, the new members of the George Washington basketball team have been busy adjusting to life both on and off the court.

A 6-foot-8 forward from Baltimore, Hartwell comes to GW after a successful career at Woodrow Wilson high school He was named Baltimore City Player of the Year as a senior, averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds per game. Hartwell will add size and athleticism to a frontcourt that lost two Key Players to graduation.
Justin Mazzulla – Freshman, Guard
A native of Rhode Island Mazzulla comes to GW after a decorated career at Bishop Hendricken high school He was named Gatorade Rhode Island Player of the Year as a senior, averaging 18 points per game Mazzulla is a versatile guard who can shoot from long range and take care of the ball. He’ll be counted on to provide some backcourt depth behind starters Jair Bolden and Yuta Watanabe.

Joshua Steed, a 6-foot-8-inch forward from Fredericksburg, Virginia, comes to GW after a successful high school career in which he was named a first team all-conference and all-district selection.
Shareef Smith, a 6-foot-5-inch guard from the Bronx, New York, brings a wealth of experience to the Colonials, having played for two years at a junior college before transferring to GW.
Larry Guidry III, a 6-foot-3-inch guard from New Orleans, Louisiana, comes to GW with an impressive basketball pedigree – his father Larry Guidry Jr. played in the NBA for several years.
Nigel Jackson, a 6-foot guard from Charlotte, North Carolina rounds out the new additions to the roster. He is a former top 100 recruit who chose to transfer to GW after two years at Clemson University
