Hamline baseball is a program with a rich history. The team has won four conference titles and made three trips to the NCAA Division III World Series
The program is on the rise, thanks in part to the efforts of Head Coach Chris Olean. Under his guidance, the team has won two conference titles and made one trip to the World Series
Olean is a firm believer in the team’s potential, and he is confident that they can continue to compete at a high level. “Our goal is always to win a National Championship ” he said. “We believe that we have the talent and the drive to do it.”
The team’s success is also thanks to the support of the Hamline community. The school’s president, Bob Dauphinais, is a huge baseball fan and has been very supportive of the team. “He’s been great,” Olean said. “He comes to as many games as he can and he really believes in what we’re doing.”
The future looks bright for Hamline baseball. With Olean at the helm, and with the support of the administration and the community, there is no doubt that they will continue to be one of the top programs in Division III

The success of the team has been fueled by a core group of talented players. First baseman Alex LaShomb is one of the best power hitters in the country, and he was named an All-American in 2018. Right-handed pitcher Jack Lentz is another All-American, and he is one of the best pitchers in Division III Other Key Players include outfielder Brandon Arnold, who was named conference player of the year, and left-handed pitcher Benji Nelson, who was named conference pitcher of the year.

On the field, Hamline has been one of the most successful programs in the MIAC over the past two seasons. The team has compiled a 56-17 (.767) record in conference play since 2016, winning back-to-back MIAC championships in 2016 and 2017. The Pipers have also made consecutive trips to the NCAA Division III tournament, reaching the regional finals in 2017.
Off the field, Hamline’s Student-Athletes have excelled in the classroom. The team has posted a cumulative GPA of 3.21 over the past two seasons, including a 3.33 GPA in 2017-18. Eleven players have been named to the MIAC All-Academic team in that span, and 15 have earned NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors.

Academically, Hamline baseball players have a strong track record of success. In 2019, eighteen of nineteen seniors graduated, and the team’s cumulative GPA was 3.3. The team is also active in the community, participating in events such as food drives and holiday toy drives.
