The Iowa Womens Basketball Roster is Here!

The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team is set to have a great season and their roster is now available! Check it out to see who will be leading the charge on the court.

Introducing the 2020-21 Iowa Women’s Basketball Roster

We are excited to introduce the 2020-21 Iowa Women’s Basketball Roster! This talented group of student-athletes will be representing the Hawkeyes this season and we can’t wait to see what they will achieve on and off the court.

Leading the team will be senior center Monika Czinano, who was recently named to the Preseason All-Big Ten team. Joining her in the frontcourt will be junior center Michaela Drake, who is coming off a breakout season in which she averaged 11.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game Rounding out the trio of experienced post players is sophomore Ashley Joens, who was Iowa’s leading scorer last season with 14.1 points per game

In the backcourt, Iowa will be led by junior guard Kathleen Doyle, who was also named to the Preseason All-Big Ten team. She will be joined by sophomore guard Makenna Watley, who showed great promise as a freshman last season, averaging 9.5 points per game Rounding out the backcourt is freshman guard Ariel Beard, who comes to Iowa from Texas where she was a highly touted recruit.

This talented group of student-athletes is sure to make an impact on the court this season and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish!

#3 Ashley Joens

Ashley Joens is a 6-foot guard from Iowa City Iowa. She is in her senior year of eligibility and will be one of the team’s primary scoring threats this season. Ashley is a four-time All-Big Ten selection and was named the conference’s Player of the Year last season. She averaged 19.8 points per game last season and will look to lead the Hawkeyes to another conference title this year.

#15 Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark is a 6-foot guard from West Des Moines Iowa. She played High School basketball at Dowling Catholic high school where she was a four-year starter and led her team to four State Championships She was named Miss Basketball in Iowa in 2019 and 2020. Clark averaged 26.7 points, 5.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game as a senior, and finished her career with 2,362 points, good for fourth all-time in Iowa high school history. She was also a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in Iowa.

#24 Monika Czinano

Monika Czinano is a 6’3” sophomore from Waterloo, Iowa. She was a McDonald’s All-American and was named Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Iowa her senior year of high school Czinano averaged 15.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game as a freshman and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

#32 McKenna Warnock

The 6-foot-2 junior from Beloit, Wisconsin is a big part of what Hawkeye Head Coach Lisa Bluder called her best recruiting class ever. As a sophomore, Warnock averaged 3.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in limited action, but she figures to be a significant contributor this season.

#34 Zion Sanders

Zion Sanders, a 5-10 junior guard from Omaha, will add depth to the Iowa backcourt. Sanders is a hometown product, attending Omaha North high school

#42 Chloe Rice

The Iowa Womens Basketball team has announced their roster for the upcoming season and #42 Chloe Rice is sure to be a key player. A skilled guard, Chloe is a junior transfer from Kansas State She averaged 8.5 points per game last season and shot 37.5 percent from three-point range We’re excited to see what she can do in an Iowa uniform!

#44 Shateah Wetering

Shateah Wetering, a 6’7″ center from Sioux City, Iowa, is one of the top recruits in the country. She’s ranked #44 in the ESPN Hoopgurlz Top 100 for the class of 2020.
