Meyers was acquired by the A’s from the Houston Astros in November in exchange for right-handed pitcher Cory Rosenthal. The 25-year-old made his Major League debut with Houston last season, appearing in two games and going 0-for-4 at the plate. He spent most of the year with Triple-A Round Rock hitting .263/.352/.406 with 10 home runs and 47 RBI in 114 games.
A former 13th-Round Draft pick of the Astros in 2016 out of Nebraska, Meyers is a career .270/.358/.445 hitter in four minor league seasons. He’s expected to compete for a spot on Oakland’s Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder.
