The James Madison baseball team has released its 2019 roster. The Dukes will open their season on February 15th with a three-game series against VMI.
JMU baseball is coming off a 2018 season in which they went 36-22 and made it to the NCAA tournament They will look to continue their success in 2019 with a team that includes 19 returners and six new faces.
Among the returners are senior infielder Josh squires, who was named a preseason all-American by perfect game and junior outfielder Matt Dunn, who was named second team all-Conference last year.
The six new players include two freshmen, infielder Cole Bartels and pitcher Justin Burns, and four transfers, pitcher Connor Coward, infielder Jack Cone, outfielder Derek Treverton, and catcher Nick Coker.

The Dukes are coming off a 2018 season in which they posted a 33-24 record and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011. JMU will open the 2019 season on February 15 when it hosts Norfolk State for a three-game series.

The James Madison Baseball team has announced its roster for the upcoming 2019 season. The Dukes will look to defend their Colonial Athletic Association title and return to the NCAA tournament after falling just short of a bid last year.
The team will be led by seniors Kyle Wrighte, Matt Ingram and Nate Akers. Wrighte was an All-CAA second baseman last year, while Ingram was an All-CAA honorable mention at third base. Akers is a returning starter in the outfield.
The pitching staff will be anchored by senior right-hander Ryan O’Connell, who was named the CAA Preseason Pitcher of the Year. O’Connell went 10-4 with a 2.45 ERA last season and was named first team All-CAA. He will be joined in the rotation by junior left-hander Michael Dailey and sophomore right-hander Connor Staine.
In relief, the Dukes will have junior right-handers Will Bates and Jack Johnston, who both saw significant time out of the bullpen last year. Sophomore left-hander Andrew McBride and freshman right-hander Alec Servidio round out the bullpen.

The James Madison baseball team and head coach Marlin Ikenberry have announced the program’s incoming class of 2019 signees. The Dukes will welcome 12 new student-athletes to the program next season.
“We are excited about the young men that we have coming in for the 2019 season,” said Ikenberry. “This is a very talented and hard working class that we feel can come in and make an immediate impact on our program.”
