Introduction
Jokerit Hockey Club or simply Jokerit, is a professional ice Hockey Team based in Helsinki, Finland. They are members of the Bobrov Division of the Western Conference of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Jokerit play their home games at the Hartwall Arena.
Jokerit were founded in 1967 as a feeder team for the Soviet national team and became one of the most successful teams in Finnish hockey history, winning six Finnish championships and three European Cups.
Jokerit joined the KHL as one of its inaugural member clubs in 2008. In their first season in the league, they reached the Gagarin Cup Finals where they lost to Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
History

Jokerit was founded in 1967 as a result of a merger between two Helsinki-based teams, Lentopalloseura (LiPa) and Ice hockey Club. LiPa was founded in 1932 and was one of the oldest hockey clubs in Finland. IHC was founded in 1946 and was one of the most successful teams in Finnish hockey history, winning six Finnish championships and three European cups.
The team has won eight Finnish championships (1982, 1983, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1991, 1995, 2000), one European Cup (1987), and one Nordic Cup (1988).

The Jokerit were founded in 1967 as a replacement for Helsinki’s first professional Hockey team Karhu-Kissat (“Bear Cats”), which folded after one season. The new team took their name from the JokeriMetro line, operated by the Helsinki City Transport. Jokerit joined the Finnish SM-liiga for the 1968–69 season, becoming only the second team from outside Tampere to join the league. They made their debut in European competition during the 1974–75 season, when they played in Group B of the European Hockey Tournament

Jokerit Hockey Club is a professional ice hockey team based in Helsinki, Finland. They are members of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The team plays its home games at the Helsinki Ice Hall.
Jokerit was founded in 1967 as a successor to the Finnish Hockey Association’s second-tier team Ilves, which then became the amateur third-tier club. Jokerit played its first game against Soviet Union’s Dynamo Kyiv in Finnair Stadium, Helsinki on October 7, 1967.
Jokerit has been one of the most successful teams in Finnish hockey history. They have won five Finnish Championships (1982, 1983, 1985, 1988, 1989), two European Championships (1987, 1989), two SM-liiga Cups (1993, 2001) and one Pajulahti Cup (2009). The team has also produced many Finnish National Team players over the years.
Some of Jokerit’s most successful coaches have been Hannu Aravirta, Jukka Jalonen and Erkka Westerlund. Aravirta led the team to three consecutive Finnish Championships between 1982 and 1984 and was named Coach of the Year in both 1982 and 1983. Jalonen led Jokerit to their most recent Finnish Championship in 2009 and is currently the Head Coach of the Finnish National Team Westerlund led Jokerit to their first European Championship in 1987 and is currently the head coach of HC Lugano in Switzerland’s National League A.

Jokerit joined the NHL as an expansion team prior to the start of the 1992–93 season. The franchise was formerly known as Jokerit Helsinki and they were one of the first non-NHL Teams to compete in the Stanley Cup playoffs. They have since won six division championships and one conference championship
In recent years the Jokerit have struggled to find success in the playoffs, but they are still one of the most popular teams in Finland.
