These are the top 5 Hockey teams in the state of Kentucky.
University of Kentucky
University of Kentucky is a college hockey team that competes in the Southeastern Collegiate Hockey conference (SECHC). The team is based in Lexington, Kentucky, and plays its home games at the Lexington Ice Center. The Wildcats are currently coached by Rob Miller.
The team has been a member of the SECHC since the conference’s inaugural season in 2006. In that time, they have won four conference championships (2007, 2009, 2010, 2012) and have made five appearances in the ACHA Division I National Tournament (2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012). Their best finish came in 2010, when they finished as national runners-up.
Murray State University
Murray State University is located in Murray, Kentucky, and is a public university with an enrollment of over 10,000 students. The Murray State University Racers ice Hockey Team competes in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) at the Division I level and is a member of the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA). The Racers have been successful at the ACHA level, winning six MACHA championships and four ACHA National Championships
Western Kentucky University
In 2014, the Western Kentucky University men’s Hockey Team won the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Division 3 National Championship The team is based out of Bowling Green Kentucky and is a member of the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association
The team has made five appearances in the ACHA Division 3 National Championship game, winning three times. Their most recent appearance was in 2019, where they lost to Rhode Island in the Championship game
The Western Kentucky University men’s Hockey team is one of five Kentucky-based teams to have won an ACHA National Championship
Eastern Kentucky University
Eastern Kentucky University is a public university in Richmond, Kentucky. Founded in 1906, it has a student population of about 16,000. The school’s athletic teams are called the Colonels and Lady Colonels. They compete in the Ohio Valley Conference and are Division I members of the NCAA. The men’s Ice Hockey team is a club sport and competes in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).
The EKU hockey team has been very successful in recent years They have won the ACHA National Championship five times, most recently in 2017. They have also finished as runners-up three times.
