U T Martin Baseball: A Winning Tradition

The University of Tennessee at Martin has a long and proud tradition of Inning Baseball Our student-athletes have worked hard to build a winning culture on and off the field, and we are proud to carry on that tradition.

Introduction

The University of Tennessee at Martin has a long tradition of inning baseball The program has won five Ohio Valley conference championships made seven NCAA tournament appearances and reached the College World Series in 1977. The current Head Coach Kevin Anderson, has continued the winning tradition leading the team to its third consecutive conference championship in 2016.

History

The University of Tennessee at Martin has a long and rich tradition in the sport of baseball. The program has been in existence for over 100 years, and in that time, UT Martin has become one of the most successful programs in the country. The team has won numerous conference championships and made multiple appearances in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament UT Martin is also home to one of the most revered figures in the history of baseball, legendary coach Whitey Herzog.

Throughout its history, UT Martin has produced many Great players who have gone on to have successful careers in Major League Baseball A few of the more notable alumni include former All-Stars Mike Piazza and Vince Coleman as well as current MLB players Chris Heisey and Drew Storen. In addition to its on-field success, UT Martin is also highly regarded for its commitment to academic excellence. The team consistently ranks near the top of Division I in terms of grade point average and graduation rates.

The UT Martin baseball program is a source of great pride for the university and the community, and it continues to be one of the premier programs in the country.

The team today

The team today is coached by Ryan Jenkins, who played baseball for UTM before becoming a coach. The team has 20 players, all of whom are passionate about the sport. In the last few years, the team has seen great success, winning multiple championships.

The coaching staff

The Coaching Staff of the University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team is committed to the success of their players on and off the field. The staff includes head coach Bubba Trammell, who has led the team to four straight NCAA Division II World Series appearances, Assistant Coach Will Kollmeyer, and volunteer assistant coach Wes Jones. The support staff consists of athletic trainers and Strength and Conditioning coaches.

The players

The fans

Some of the fans’ favorite players from the past include pitcher Nolan Ryan who played for the team from 1966 to 1968, and first baseman Will Clark, who played for the team from 1983 to 1985.

The facilities

This section gives you an inside look at the UTM Baseball Complex and some of its features. The UTM Baseball Complex was built in 2009 and is one of the finest facilities in NCAA Division II. It is located on the west side of campus and is adjacent to the Elam Athletic Center. The complex includes a state-of-the-art press box, meeting rooms, locker rooms player development room, weight room and training room. The facility also has a state-of-the-art video board and sound system.

The schedule

The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team has a rich tradition of success on the diamond, winning conference championships and making postseason appearances with regularity. The Skyhawks have won or shared 14 Ohio Valley Conference regular season titles since the league’s inception in 1948, and have captured nine tournament championships, most recently in 2018.

Under the direction of Head Coach Ryan Gannon, UT Martin has appeared in three straight NCAA regionals (2016-18), marking just the second time in program history that the Skyhawks have made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. The Skyhawks have also won 30 or more games in five straight seasons (2014-18), a first in program history.

The conference

The conference U T Martin Baseball competes in is the Ohio Valley Conference. It was founded in 1948 and is comprised of schools located in the Midwestern and Southwestern United States The conference sponsors competition in nineteen different sports.

The future

The future of the University of Tennessee at Martin’s Baseball Team is looking bright. The team has a rich tradition of success, dating back to its first season in 1962. The team has won eight conference championships and made one appearance in the NCAA Division II World Series In recent years the team has seen a resurgence, making back-to-back appearances in the Ohio Valley Conference Championship game With a strong core of returning players and a talented group of newcomers, the sky is the limit for UT Martin baseball
